<div><div><div>SUMMARY: The Palliative Care Physician will provide Palliative Care Consultation services for Alameda Health System. Services will be on-site at Highland Hospital, San Leandro Hospital and Alameda Hospital.
DUTIES &amp; ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Provide Palliative Care Consultations, in collaboration with experienced and well-established interprofessional team members (physician assistant and nurse practitioners, social workers, chaplains, nurses, and outreach worker), at Alameda Health System. Location and care setting determined based on applicant experience and interest; options include: 
 Inpatient Palliative Care Consultations at Highland Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center providing multispecialty care and hosting residencies in Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery. 
 Inpatient Palliative Care Consultations at the two smaller community hospitals within Alameda Health System: Alameda Hospital and San Leandro Hospital 
 Community-Based Palliative Care in person at the Highland Care Pavilion and other wellness centers, in skilled nursing facilities, and via telehealth
2. Symptom management, serious illness communication, advance care planning, psychosocial and spiritual care support, linkage to community resources, in collaboration with the palliative care team, tailored to the needs of the diverse and vulnerable population we serve.
3. Collaborate with other palliative care program team members to provide education to residents in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and General Surgery, equipping them with an approach to patient and family care that highlights cultural humility, psychosocial and spiritual care, and self-reflection to promote connection and resilience. The palliative care team regularly leads residents in clinical rotations and in educational sessions, including communication skills training and symptom management workshops.
4. Participate in and/or lead quality improvement activities to improve serious illness care within the palliative care team and across Alameda Health System.
5. Collaborate with clinicians from a range of medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties who share a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.
Minimum Experience: Completion of accredited ACGME or AOA Internal Medicine Residency and Palliative Care Fellowship
Required Licenses/Certifications: Board eligibility in Palliative Care; Board Certification (will be expected to obtain on the appropriate schedule); Compliance with Board mandated education and training to maintain State licensure and/or board certification.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California;Valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Number.
Pay Range: $133.96 - $144.46 / Hour
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate&rsquo;s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.  SUMMARY:
 
 Under direct supervision the Anesthesia Technician assists physicians in the application of anesthesia and to calibrate, monitor, troubleshoot, clean and sterilize various anesthesia equipment. May provide routine and emergency services for anesthesiologists. Performs related duties as required.
 
 
 
 DUTIES &amp; ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 <ul>
 <li>
 Ensures daily maintenance and service of all electronic and mechanical equipment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Demonstrates understanding of the use and function, ability to set up and/or operate, and troubleshoot equipment such as anesthesia machines, air shield ventilators, and cardiac monitors. General up-keep of machines, refill anesthetic vaporizers; check and change soda line canisters as needed, check and change oxygen, nitrous and air tanks as needed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare procedure trays such as CVP, arterial line and Swan Ganz.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures equipment that is found to be inoperable following standard procedure check is reported to the proper person, acts as a liaison with the equipment vendors for sales, preventative maintenance, and repair.
 </li>
 <li>
 Appropriately removes and disposes of all relevant supplies and equipment following use, exchanging clean for soiled or dirty parts between cases, and restocking room carts.
 </li>
 <li>
 Practices aseptic technique.
 </li>
 <li>
 Cleans and restocks assigned area of the workroom, and assists in ordering supplies for that area.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists in the correct and safe positioning of the patient for the operating procedure to be performed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists with ventilatory support in transporting patients.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with I-stat and glucometer blood tests per anesthetist&rsquo;s request; calibrate machines daily.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with monitoring and transporting post-op ICU patients back to unit.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain and update anesthesia logbook from anesthesia records.
 </li>
 <li>
 Keeps records of preventative maintenance or all anesthesia machines and monitors.
 </li>
 <li>
 Orders supplies and equipment for anesthesia department.
 </li>
 <li>
 Check drug supply for outdated drugs.
 </li>
 <li>
 Keep anesthesia workroom clean and organized.

 Minimum Qualifications
 
 
 
 Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate Required.
 
 
 Minimum Experience: One-year experience as an anesthesia technician, or sufficient training for anesthesia technologist.
 
 
 Preferred License/Certifications: Certificate of completion sponsored by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians.

 Under clinical supervision of a RN or licensed physician/podiatrist, provides basic clinical, front office clerical, and technical support services for client/patient/clinic. Performs related duties as required.
 
 
 
 DUTIES &amp; ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 Ability to empathize with vulnerable populations and care for poor and underserved patients.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists clinician in following up on patient needs, including but not limited to inbox management, giving patient prescriptions, work-slip and/or addressing messages. Provide information/instructions to patients with clinician authorization.
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with patients and other healthcare providers to deliver coordinated, high quality care.
 </li>
 <li>
 Collects by non-invasive techniques and preserves specimens for testing including urine, sputum and stool. Transports specimens to laboratory.
 </li>
 <li>
 Effectively utilizes population health methodologies such as patient registry, inreach (e.g. ordering from care protocols), outreach, care protocols and team-based care to improve patient and population outcomes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Following specific training, the Medical Assistant may administer P.O.intradermal, intramuscular, subcutaneous injections, inhalation, and immunizations, performs skin tests, i.e., PPD placement.
 </li>
 <li>
 Greets and escorts patients to examination rooms, prepares patients according to procedures, and assists physician/clinician with the care of the patient as instructed. Assists providers/nurses with examination and treatment/procedures. Assures proper consents are obtained.
 </li>
 <li>
 Interviews and collects basic information from patients about their present and previous medical condition; measures vital signs and other information as required by department.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintains patient examination areas, cleans, maintains, and/or sterilizes equipment. Stocks examination rooms, orders medical supplies and equipment. Checks and prepares rooms for clinic&rsquo;s daily schedule. Checks equipment, and advises appropriate personnel when replacements are necessary.
 </li>
 <li>
 Participates in Performance Improvement/Quality Control activities.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs basic clinical/technical skills specific to department and simple non-invasive testing.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs clerical functions, i.e., answers phones, uses computers, registers patients, completes forms as necessary, files medical records. Completes registration and makes appointments for patients on AHS computer system when appropriate.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs phlebotomy which includes venipuncuture, finger-stick venipuncuture and heel-stick venipuncture.
 </li>
 <li>
 Promptly responds to patient needs. Responds effectively to emergency situations including, Code Blue and other emergencies as directed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide patient-centered care that is respectful of, and responsive to, individual patient preferences, needs and values. Provides and promotes excellence in customer service for both internal and external customers.
 </li>
 <li>
 Records information in the patients&rsquo; record.
 </li>
 <li>
 Supports the plan of care including coordinating consultation, testing, referrals and required authorizations; assists patient with implementation of the plan of care and ensuring results are available. Instructs and assists patients in undressing for procedures for Physician&rsquo;s examination as appropriate. Direct patients to various departments outside of clinic (X-ray, Ultrasound, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Admitting and/or Billing Department, WIC, etc.) Instruct patient and family members in techniques and methods of self-care, as appropriate; give patients basic pre and post - operative care instructions as necessary; participate in orientation of new employees/students in areas as necessary; follow clinician/providers treatment plans.
 </li>
 <li>
 Transports patients to ancillary services. Assists patients with limited mobility in wheelchairs, with crutches, gait impairment, and/or gurney assists.
 </li>
 <li>
 With training, provides health coaching, goal setting and action plan review to patients.

 Minimum Qualifications
 
 
 
 Education: Graduation from a certified/accredited medical assistant school.
 
 
 Preferred Minimum Experience: One year in an outpatient setting.
 
 
 Required Licenses/Certifications: Acquire within 6 months of hire and maintain active Medical Assistant certification as issued by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), National Center for Competency, Testing/Multi-skilled Medical Certification Institute (NCCT/MMCI), or American Medical Technologists (AMT); BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association.
 
 
 AY RANGE: $33.30 - $39.40/hour
