<p><b>DUTIES &amp; ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: </b>NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.<br>

1. Assesses the respiratory status of inpatients and outpatients; assesses the appropriateness of all respiratory care orders; recommends changes or appropriate interventions as necessary to medical and nursing staff; assesses/initiates/monitors continuous ventilation in a newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric setting.</p>
<p>2. Administers, monitors and assesses patient response to a variety of ambient, positive pressure and oxygen enriched modalities.</p>
<p>3. Interprets arterial blood gas values and recommends appropriate interventions.</p>
<p>4. Responds to CODE 3, CODE BLUE, RRT and STAT calls to assess and maintain airway.</p>
<p>5. Performs other duties as required.</p>
<p><i>Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.</i></p>
<p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b><br>

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care.<br>
<br>
Preferred Experience: Three to five years recent Critical Care experience in an emergency setting.</p>
<p>Required Licenses/Certifications: Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner license; Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), issued by American Heart Association (AHA).</p>
<p>Preferred Licenses/Certification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP), issued by AHA.</p>

SLH Respiratory Care Practitioner

<div><div><div><div><p><b>SUMMARY</b>: Under direction, supervises and instructs entry to journey level professional therapists, supportive personnel and students. Assists in the development of special techniques and equipment, and provides and supervises the provision of the full-range of occupational therapy services in rehabilitation programs treating physically disabled and emotionally ill persons at Alameda Health System facilities. The Occupational Therapists II typically carry a caseload in addition to their supervisional responsibilities. Performs related duties as required.</p>
<p><b>DUTIES &amp; ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</b>: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.</p>
<p>1. Attends and participates in staff conferences, training, and in-service sessions, explains occupational therapy to other disciplines and coordinates programs.</p>
<p>2. Attends rehabilitation conferences and discusses the status and progress rehabilitation patients with physicians and personnel of other disciplines involved, such as physical therapy, nursing, and psychology.</p>
<p>3. Interviews patients and administers the appropriate tests and/or evaluations to assess physical and/or psycho-social dysfunction. These evaluations may include but are not limited to: range of motion, muscle testing, sensory integration, perceptual abilities, coordination, activities of daily living, pre-vocational, home evaluation, equipment needs, feeding and pre-feeding evaluations, and interpersonal relationship skills.</p>
<p>4. Keeps informed of current trends and new developments in the field; read the professional literature; and participates in professional activities in the field.</p>
<p>5. Keeps records and prepares reports on patient treatment and progress and coordinates treatment with other services, involved in patient care; confers with the Chief Occupational Therapist regarding progress and problems.</p>
<p>6. May act for the Assistant Chief Occupational Therapist in their absence; assumes administrative duties as assigned; assists the Chief in assigning duties to professional and supportive staff; communicates departmental needs.</p>
<p>7. May lead an out-patient group of mentally disturbed patients in a program designed to gain or re-gain maximum mental capabilities.</p>
<p>8. Plans an appropriate treatment program utilizing selected methods to achieve the desired treatment objectives and goals for patient rehabilitation. These methods may include but are not limited to: therapeutic exercises and functional activities to promote muscle return, sensory re-education, muscle facilitation, perceptual-motor integration, activities of daily living and transfer training, prosthetic training of the upper extremity, orthotic and adaptive equipment fabrication, and community re-orientation.</p>
<p>9. Reviews referrals by physicians to note diagnoses, cautions, treatment ordered and results desired.</p>
<p>10. Supervises, orients, trains, instructs and assists in the evaluation of entry and journey level professional staff and supportive staff; assists in personnel selection; delegates cases to assigned staff while maintaining responsibility for an assigned program; carries a caseload of patients in addition to supervisorial responsibilities.</p>
<p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b>:<br>
Education: Possession of a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree, certification or Master&rsquo;s Degree from an approved school of occupational therapy.</p>
<p>Minimum Experience: One year of full-time experience in the class of Occupational Therapist I with Alameda Health System; OR two years of full-time experience as an occupational therapist in another facility in physical disabilities or psycho-social dysfunction.</p>
<p>Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.<br>
Required Licenses/Certifications: CPI -Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (required for all positions at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and certain positions in the Emergency Department).</p>
<p>Required Licenses/Certifications: Current Licensure with the California Board of Occupational Therapy as an Occupational Therapist.</p>

Occupational Therapist II

<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p><b>SUMMARY:</b> This position will provide a high level of operational and administrative support duties and other related duties as required for the Department of Emergency Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education Program and its associated Committee (UME Committee). The Administrative and Project Coordinator will be responsible for communication with prospective and rotating medical students, onboarding and offboarding of rotating medical students, providing administrative support for medical students during clinical rotations, and coordination and communication with medical school coordinators. The Administrative and Project Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting the UME director with the development and implementation of UME committee timelines, procedures, meetings, and processes.</p>
<p><b>DUTIES &amp; ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</b> NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.</p>
<p>1. Coordinates and implements a variety of projects related to Undergraduate Medical Education within the Department of Emergency Medicine; provides operational and procedural support to the UME Director by coordinating and assisting with day-to-day program operations.</p>
<p>2. Coordinates and advances day to day operations supporting the functions of the UME Program and its Committee (see UME Committee Charter for more detail) as well as supporting medical students rotating within the Department of Emergency Medicine. This includes, but is not limited to: Responding to inquiries from medical students inquiring about clinical rotations, receiving rotation applications (where appropriate) and coordinating with Faculty Medical Student Coordinators for student acceptance, onboarding of Medical students, managing communications with medical students and seeking advice and approval from faculty when students request time away from the rotation, collecting and tracking evaluations for medical students and coordinating communications and grades to medical schools, receiving medical school communications and distributing to faculty as appropriate</p>
<p>3. Prepares correspondence and documents; prepares agendas and transcribes minutes of quarterly Undergraduate Medical Education Committee meetings; may take dictation from the UME Director; schedules, works with manager on agendas for meetings and other special committee meetings; take notes and distribute as instructed; edits drafts for composition and grammatical structure; prepares special reports.</p>
<p>4. Develops and maintains work flow procedures and revises procedures manuals, ensures the availability of current information by collaborating with specific department leaders, clerkship directors, medical school leadership, and IT for the ongoing updating of forms and processes, as well as overall accuracy of department contact information on AHS&rsquo;s intranet and website, as well as maintenance of Emergency Medicine Department Medical Student Program webpage content</p>
<p>5. Handles confidential information which has not yet been made public and normally available only to the UME Director and his/her top-level staff; records actions to be taken on sensitive matters, based on a thorough knowledge of the department policies; takes responsibility for releasing information to authorized parties.</p>
<p>6. Maintains the UME Committee Director&rsquo;s appointment calendar exercising considerable discretion in committing the Director&rsquo;s time or referring caller to another appropriate source of information or service; advises Director of appointments; sets up meetings, contacts participants, reserves rooms, prepares notices and agenda; and assembles material/documents needed for such meetings.</p>
<p>7. Relieves the UME Director of certain administrative details by routinely and independently performing administrative support tasks such as researching operating problems; independently refers matters to other staff members for research; contacts outside vendors, general public or County representatives on matters requiring independent judgment.</p>
<p>8. Screens phone calls, often personally handling those originally intended for the UME Director; provides information requiring knowledge of the Director&rsquo;s particular area of responsibility; answers questions that involve searching for and abstracting technical data and detailed explanation of laws, policies, or procedures, referring only matters requiring policy decisions to superiors.</p>
<p>9. Sorts, screens, prioritizes and routes mail, attaching pertinent correspondence and other relevant data for reference; determines in what priority material should be referred to the Director&rsquo;s attention.</p>
<p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b><br>
Education: High Diploma or GED required.</p>
<p>Preferred Education: A.A. Degree or Bachelor&rsquo;s degree</p>
<p>Minimum Experience: A combination of at least three years as an Administrative Assistant, three years of project management experience, and university-level education may be considered equivalent.</p>
<p>Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Project Management certification from an accredited college/university program preferred.</p>
<p>PAY RANGE: $29.59 - $49.31/hour<br>
