A Research Technician position is available immediately at Albany Medical College in the laboratory of Dr. Sophie Belin and Dr. Yannick Poitelon to study the development of myelin and how myelin is targeted in genetic, traumatic and acquired disorders.<br>
Our studies utilize a variety of approaches, including molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, Western blot), ultramicrotomy and immunohistochemistry, glial and neuronal cell isolation, behavioral testing or motor and sensory functions, therapeutic application of ultrasound. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Belin and Dr. Poitelon, the research assistant will become competent in many of these techniques.<br>

Responsibilities: In addition to becoming proficient in laboratory techniques, the research technician will also be expected to manage the research mouse colony, including animal husbandry and genotyping, perform general lab maintenance (e.g. purchasing and maintaining inventories of lab supplies), assist with training new lab members, and aiding in completing lab experiments.<div></div><div>

Bachelors degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, or related discipline required</div></li><li><div>
Highly motivated and organized</div></li><li><div>
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team</div></li><li><div>
Possess excellent oral and written skills, and have a positive and open mindset</div></li><li><div>
Molecular and cellular biology expertise and/or a background in development, genetic would be beneficial</div></li><li><div>
Willingness to work with mice is essential</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Timetable:</div><div>
We are looking for a full-time employee (40hrs per week), starting April 2025. For applicants in their senior year of B.Sc. or B.A., we are willing to accommodate part-time employment until graduation.</div><div></div><div>

 Qualifications:

   Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
  </li>
  <li>
   Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license
  </li>
  <li>
   Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  </li>
  <li>
   Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
  </li>
  <li>
   Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills
  </li>
  <li>
   Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.
