At Alcoa Massena Operations, general mechanics install, repair, weld, prepare and layout work from blueprints, fabricate, maintain, and troubleshoot machinery and equipment including, piping systems, pumps, conveyor type systems, and work on various types of production equipment including aluminum reduction cells, cranes and furnaces.</div><div></div><div>
Qualifications:</div><ul><li>
Possess a High School degree or GED</li><li>
Valid NYS Journeyperson mechanical license or similar mechanic certification</li><li>
Ability to read layout drawings and blueprints</li><li>
Proven mechanical ability involving welding, fabricating, machinery installation, alignment, rigging, machining and the ability to work with precision to within a thousandth of an inch. Good observational skills to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machine problems are important</li><li>
Work from shop orders, blueprints, sketches and/or verbal information to layout, setup and operate metal working equipment such as shears, brake, rolls, drill press, power saws, welding machines, spot welders, etc. and use a regular range of hand tools to fabricate, repair and build iron work products</li><li>
Perform complicated mechanical repair or rebuild tasks on equipment</li><li>
Work with and provide assistance to other trades in performing repair operations</li><li>
Possess an excellent work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment</li><li>
Be willing to work any shift, including rotating shifts and weekends</li><li>
Be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available</li><li>
Be willing to take a proficiency exam</li></ul><div></div><div>

This is a great opportunity to lead improvements to the ABS management system, in all processes and to integrate ABS within other management systems. Working with the operation as ABS Manager, collaborating with location ABS personnel, will be critical to your success and establishing performance metrics and measurements of the effectiveness of work processes. You will also make requirements and standards visible to employees &amp; be responsible for the internal and external audits.</div><div></div><div>

Facilitate cooperation among all different operational areas toward the same common goals.</li><li>
Lead the development of strategic plans.</li><li>
Participate in the work of the executive board, contribute knowledge and work on the implementation of plans.</li><li>
Prepare budgets for the relevant team.</li><li>
Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and challenge the organization to improve.</li><li>
