Job Summary:
Performs a variety of clerical support roles, including but not limited to document preparation, data entry, scheduling, reception coverage, and customer service inquiries for Administrative Services. Administrative Assistants work as a team with other positions to maintain training and skills, meeting the needs within and across various service areas as necessary. 
Employees in this classification are assigned primarily to a specific service area (such as Administrative Services, Senior &amp; Veterans Services, Transportation, Central Dispatch, Parks, Recreation &amp; Tourism). Still, they are cross-trained to back up and provide coverage for other service areas when operational needs arise.
Starting Wage: $22.12 per hour, full time<div>

Responsibilities and Duties:<ul><li>
Provides professional, courteous customer service in person, by phone, and electronically; responds to inquiries, complaints, or directs individuals to appropriate staff or departments.</li><li>
Covers front reception areas, assists walk-in customers, and manages telephone communications.</li><li>
Prepares, compiles, reviews, processes, and edits a variety of documents, correspondence, reports, forms, invoices, and payments.</li><li>
Handles accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes; verifies accuracy of data, coding, documentation, and matches invoices to purchase orders.</li><li>
Maintains accurate and organized filing systems (electronic and paper) in compliance with retention policies.</li><li>
Supports reporting and record-keeping functions, including data entry, tracking, compiling operational or financial information, and generating reports.</li><li>
Assists with internal and external communications, public relations content, and website updates.</li><li>
Coordinates departmental calendars, meetings, events, agendas, notes, and minutes for Boards, Committees, and other meetings.</li><li>
Performs office operations, including ordering supplies, processing work orders, receiving shipments, and general office coordination.</li><li>
Provides cross-departmental administrative support, backup coverage, and performs other duties or special projects as assigned.</li></ul>
Required Education and Experience:<ul><li>
Valid Driver's License</li><li>
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)</li><li>
One (1) to three (3) years of administrative, clerical, customer service, or office management experience
</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and standard office equipment</li></ul> 

Preferred Education and Experience:<ul><li>
Intermediate coursework or training in accounting or business administration.</li><li>
Experience in a government or public sector environment.</li></ul>

Receives calls and dispatches for all public safety within Allegan County, emergency and non-emergency related. Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) record entry and management for law enforcement and courts.
Starting Wage: $24.26 per hour, full time, 12-hour shifts

Processes all emergency and non-emergency public safety and public service calls within Allegan County. Prioritizes calls and department response and dispatches appropriate resource.</li><li>
Monitors all countywide work station alarms.</li><li>
Manages the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) system.</li><li>
Performs Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) utilizing EMD protocols established by the Allegan County Medical Control Authority Board.</li><li>
Answers and processes administrative calls for all public safety and government related agencies.</li><li>
Record management logs for: Service Vehicle Rotation, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), lost and found, road conditions and closures, livestock, animal records, phone records, medical examiners, on-call for courts, Child Protective Services (CPS), Dive Team, SWAT Team, Marine Patrol, etc.</li><li>
Operates radio consoles, audio recorders, Enhanced 911 (E911) displays, computer aided dispatching (CAD) terminals, Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Emergency Alert System (EAS), keyboard, CAD, CAD mapping, Mobile Computer Terminals (MCT) Outdoor Warning Sirens, Teletype (TTP), Public Safety Alert Monitors (PSAM), Fleet Eyes, Emergency Management Network (EMNET).</li><li>
Performs miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned.</li><li>
Contacts non-public safety related agencies that work with Allegan County Central Dispatch (ACCD) on a routine basis.</li></ul>
Education and Experience:<ul><li>
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and up to one year of specialized of technical training beyond high school.</li><li>
Within one year of hire must be Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certified, Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) certified and have completed a State basic dispatching course.</li><li>
Keyboard speed and accuracy with a minimum of 40 words per minute.</li><li>
Prefer two years of experience in the public safety related field.</li></ul>
