WEB APPLICATION BACKEND DEVELOPMENT

Are you a backend developer with strong skills in Python and experience building web APIs and application logic across platforms? Do you also have hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js for integrating backend and frontend components? We&rsquo;re looking for a backend-focused web developer to join a growing team delivering secure, high-performance web apps across a mix of industries and use cases. 
You'll work closely with DevOps, frontend engineers, and security analysts to deliver maintainable, well-documented code in environments that prioritise cybersecurity, compliance, and operational excellence.

Must have laptop that supports development and Microsoft Teams meetings. The company will provide the software. 
EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have professional experience building and maintaining Python-based backends, working with Vue.js to deliver modern web interfaces, and integrating systems via HTTP APIs and SQL databases. You should be confident in Linux environments and experienced with Docker, Git, and scripting to support development and deployment workflows. A strong understanding of HTTP, networking, and client-server architecture is essential. 
Experience or interest in cybersecurity best practices, ISO27001, or public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES 
As a Backend Developer, your responsibilities will include:

<li>Developing secure and efficient backends using Python. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Creating and consuming web APIs (REST, JSON). 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Writing and optimising SQL queries and database interactions. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Working in Linux environments and managing deployments via Docker. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Using Git for version control and participating in code reviews. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Managing development and testing in hosted environments such as Replit. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Collaborating across teams to design and deliver complete solutions. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Debugging and maintaining applications on Windows and cross-platform systems. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Supporting CI/CD processes and infrastructure automation. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ensuring systems follow security and compliance best practices.</li></ul> 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>3+ years experience in backend or full-stack development. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Proficient in Python, SQL, and HTTP/Web APIs. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Solid experience with Vue.js for building frontend components. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Familiar with Linux, Docker, Git, and scripting (Bash or Python). 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Understanding of networking, client-server interaction, and deployment tooling. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Experience developing in Replit or cloud-based environments. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Comfortable working with Windows servers/workstations when required.</li></ul> 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat models, and secure coding. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Exposure to ISO 27001, NIST, or other compliance frameworks. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Understanding of building and integrating user-facing components using Vue.js. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and secrets management. 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Experience writing and consuming API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger). 
</li>
</ul><ul><li>Interest in performance tuning, resilience, and observability.</li></ul></div>
