Allergy & ENT Associates of Middle TN

We are hiring a Full Time experienced Medical Assistant for our Allergy and ENT Practice.Primary Function:<ul><li>Responsible for rendering professional clinical care to patients within the medical practice, as directed by the physicians and advanced-practice providers (APPs).</li><li>Assist in the day-to-day clinical operations of medical office visits.</li></ul>Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>Document in our EMR system- eClinicalWorks (eCW).</li><li>Perform triage duties: Place patients in the exam room. Obtain manual vital signs. Document patient health history in EMR system. Document the patient's chief complaint in EMR system.</li><li>Assist physicians or APPs with examination and treatment of patients, including scribing and administering injections.</li><li>Assist physicians with in-office surgeries using sterile procedure guidelines to ensure non-contamination of sterile field. Set up appropriate surgical instrument tray.</li><li>Perform phlebotomy and laboratory tests as required by the physicians or APPs.</li><li>Screen clinical telephone calls for providers. May answer patient&rsquo;s inquiries with respect to medical questions within the limits of medical knowledge. Return phone calls for patient questions. Document patient phone calls in the medical record.</li><li>Ensure that all equipment in the exam rooms are clean and properly stocked prior to each day.</li><li>Ensure that reports from diagnostic tests ordered have been received.</li><li>Take calls from pharmacies. Enter in prescriptions and prescription refills to pharmacies as directed by the providers, and document accurately in the medical record.</li><li>Explain post-op instructions to patients.</li><li>Schedule post-op appointments.</li><li>Coordinate with surgery schedulers to schedule outside diagnostic tests.</li><li>Adequate medical knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job, such as: recording accurate patient histories in the medical record, assist with office examinations, venipuncture, dressing changes, reading clinical instrument gauges, and provide patient education regarding treatment plans.</li><li>Coordinate patient flow.</li><li>May have exposure to bloodborne pathogens.</li></ul>Education / Certification / Licensure Requirements:<ul><li>High school education or G.E.D. equivalent- required.</li><li>Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program- required.</li><li>Two years prior experience in a medical practice- required.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Communication skills including: fluent in oral and written English- required.</li><li>Strong computer skills including the ability to send/receive messages, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use our Electronic Medical Records system eCW.</li><li>Hard worker.</li><li>Good with multitasking.</li><li>Able to follow through on assignments.</li><li>Able to scribe at least 60 words per minute</li><li>Excellent team player.</li><li>Positive attitude.</li><li>Professional appearance and demeanor.</li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Willingness to learn.</li><li>Due to the sensitivity of our allergy patients, we cannot employ anyone who smells of strong odors including smoke, perfume, or cologne.</li></ul>Uniform:<ul><li>Black scrubs. The practice will reimburse $120 per year for uniform costs.</li></ul>Job Perks:<ul><li>Great schedule: No nights. No weekends. No holidays. 1/2 day on Fridays.</li><li>Schedule: Monday - Thursday: 7:45am - 4:45pm.
