About The Role
 
The role of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for analyzing specimens, verifying reports, performing quality assurance, and reviewing results for validity.
What You&rsquo;ll Do Here
<ul><li>Follow established procedures for obtaining and processing biological specimens for analysis in the department.
</li><li>Analyzes clinical laboratory specimens
</li><li>Performs data entry into the computer
</li><li>Verifies and reports laboratory results
</li><li>Follows procedures approved by the Laboratory Director (or his/her designee) for the running of tests, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting test systems and laboratory equipment.
</li><li>Reviews results for validity; notifies provider of critical or unusual results; consults with Medical Director or pathologist when questions arise.
</li><li>Runs quality control specimens according to approved procedures
</li><li>Performs corrective action when necessary
</li><li>Documents QC values and corrective actions
</li><li>Determines validity of test runs based on QC results
</li><li>Prepares and runs proficiency test specimens according to approved procedures
</li><li>Completes all related paperwork
</li><li>Performs calibrations and calibration verifications on instruments as necessary and according to approved procedures
</li><li>Participates in ongoing daily quality assurance activities and quality assurance studies
</li><li>Works closely with Medical Director, pathologist, and/or managers to continually improve laboratory operations
</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned
</li><li>Develops the ability to recognize factors and instrumental behavior that affects analytical measurements and result and takes appropriate corrective action in accordance with established protocols.
</li><li>Recognizes equipment malfunctions and failures and notifies the technologist and/or supervisor.
</li><li>Assists in training new laboratory assistant and technician personnel by demonstrating necessary laboratory skills and procedures.
</li><li>Participates in continuing education programs as directed by the department technical supervisor.
</li><li>Always follows appropriate safety practices in the laboratory.
</li><li>Follows company guidelines and regulations.
</li></ul>What You&rsquo;ll Need to Succeed
<ul><li>BS in Medical Technology or equivalent.
</li><li>Two years of generalist experience preferred.
</li><li>Current California CLS License, required.
</li><li>Current MLS(ASCP) credentials or equivalent , required.
</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills.
</li></ul>What We Offer
The salary range estimated for this position is $80,000 - $110,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
