Overview</b></div><div>
Altech Solutions is seeking an <b>IT Field Technician</b> to support NASA&rsquo;s Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) under the AEGIS contract. This role involves supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure, performing technical analyses of network hardware, and ensuring high-quality data transmission across the facility. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between physical cable plant maintenance and logical network troubleshooting.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Key Responsibilities</b></div><ul><li><b>
Network Maintenance:</b> Install, support, and maintain LANs/WANs, including the configuration of switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.</li><li><b>
Infrastructure Support:</b> Install and remove CAT6 copper, fiber optic, and category cabling within network closets and data center environments.</li><li><b>
Technical Analysis:</b> Use diagnostic tools to perform technical analyses of software, hardware, and transmission facilities to support efficient operations.</li><li><b>
Problem Resolution:</b> Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to network integrity, VOIP, and PC hardware/software.</li><li><b>
Data Management:</b> Extract and compile engineering data from field notes and manuals, identifying inconsistencies and selecting appropriate presentation methods.</li><li><b>
Operational Support:</b> Monitor data traffic and control network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission.</li></ul><p></p><div><b><br>
Qualifications</b></div><ul><li><b>
Education:</b> AA/AS degree with 4 years of experience, or a High School diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.</li><li><b>
Technical Experience:</b> * 2+ years of relevant IT experience.<ul><li>
1+ years of cable plant experience (Fiber, Copper, Category cabling).</li><li>
1+ years of experience troubleshooting complex routing and switching issues.</li></ul></li><li><b>
Skills:</b> * Entry-level knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN).<ul><li>
Ability to interpret network drawings and specifications.</li><li>
Proficiency in identifying telecom color codes.</li><li>
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).</li></ul></li><li><b>
Certifications:</b> BICSI, CCNA, or other networking certifications are highly preferred.</li><li><b>
Clearance:</b> Ability to obtain and maintain a <b>Public Trust</b>.</li></ul><p></p><div><b><br>
Physical Requirements &amp; Working Conditions</b></div><ul><li><b>
Physical Dexterity:</b> Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.</li><li><b>
Environment:</b> Work is performed primarily in a data center and network closet environment.</li><li><b>
Flexibility:</b> Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or late afternoons/evenings as required.</li></ul><p></p><div><b><br>
