Position Overview
At Ambition Prep, our Music teacher combines the ability to motivate and educate students, developing academics and character skills through music instruction. The music teacher has a growth mindset and participates in rigorous professional development throughout the year, including Classroom management training, collaborative planning sessions, whole and small group school-wide focus professional development, team analysis of performance data, and other personalized opportunities growth. Our teachers also receive coaching and have the opportunity to visit other high-performing charter schools to study and grow best practices. 
Responsibilities and Duties<ul><li>
Introduce music standards based on age and grade through music theory, music composition, music interpretation, music literature and genres, instrumentation knowledge, and musical performance.</li><li>
Support outstanding academic achievement and student character development</li><li>
Teaches students the fundamentals of art theory and guides students through art projects that are appropriate for elementary-age students</li><li>
Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment that excites and invests students as they reach their full potential</li><li>
Build classroom community and relationships with families, participating in a powerful team that ensures all students make outstanding academic progress</li><li>
Support students through direct and small group instruction</li></ul><ul><li>
Creates innovative and common core-aligned lesson plans</li><li>
Adapts teaching for the benefit of each student and collaborates with other educators for support and ideas</li><li>
Assesses student learning on a consistent basis and adjusts instruction to meet individual student needs</li><li>
Commits to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration</li><li>
Models Ambition Prep&rsquo;s cultural expectations and supports the development of those skills in students and peers</li><li>
Support the operational and academic teams with schoolwide activities</li><li>
Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor</li></ul> 
Experience and Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree, required</li><li>
Background check passed, required</li><li>
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with K-12 students, required</li><li>
Detail-oriented with exceptionally strong initiative and follow-through</li><li>
Demonstrate knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sheets, Docs</li><li>
Strong relationship-management skills</li><li>
Strong problem-solving skills</li><li>
Demonstrated passion for Ambition Prep&rsquo;s mission and high standards of excellence</li><li>
Innovative, creative, organized, and willing to take risks</li><li>
Ability to take constructive feedback and quickly incorporate feedback</li></ul>
