<div>The Vermont Department of Labor&rsquo;s Workforce Development Division is a state government entity committed to improving the lives of working Vermonters by strengthening the state&rsquo;s workforce system and connecting individuals to meaningful employment opportunities. As stewards of public and federal taxpayer resources, the Division is responsible for ensuring that workforce programs are effective, accountable, and aligned with the needs of Vermonters and employers. Administered from Montpelier and delivered through job centers across the state, the Division oversees workforce programs that support job seekers, employers, and communities. The Division serves a broad range of Vermonters, with a particular focus on individuals facing barriers to employment, including low-income individuals, youth, veterans, individuals with disabilities, justice-involved individuals, and those experiencing long-term unemployment. Services are also provided to employers across industries to help meet workforce needs and support economic growth. Core poverty alleviation activities focus on helping individuals access employment, training, and career pathways that lead to family-sustaining wages. This includes career counseling, job placement assistance, skills training, and work-based learning opportunities such as registered apprenticeship. The Division also works to reduce barriers to employment by connecting individuals to supportive services and coordinating with partner organizations. In addition, the Division aligns workforce, education, and economic development efforts across the state. Through data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement, the Department ensures that workforce programs deliver measurable impact and responsible use of public funds.<br>

This role focuses on building tools, processes, and data systems that improve evaluation, participant engagement, and connections to employment. <div>The Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA program places AmeriCorps VISTA members in full service with our campus and community partners for one year. During this year, members spend 35 hours per week on their host site&rsquo;s campus or with one of that campus&rsquo;s community partners to work on building systems and programs that support low-income college students and community members. The VISTA members&rsquo; work is to build capacity, meaning that rather than directly serving the community, they enhance or create systems, structures, and resources that support the direct anti-poverty work. Campus Compact functions as the central VISTA program hub, performing program administration, offering training and support to VISTA members and their projects, and connecting the work happening in individual projects both to similar work happening nationwide and back to AmeriCorps. <p></p><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><b>Member Duties :</b> The project goal is to equip UCB with the data, tools, and institutional infrastructure needed to deliver scalable, on-demand student success resources that improve retention and degree completion for low-income students, expanding their access to stable, higher-paying employment and long-term economic mobility. The VISTA will conduct a comprehensive needs assessment, build cross-departmental relationships, and develop a project plan for a multilingual, 24/7 accessible Student Success Resource Library that meets students whenever and wherever they are. By centering the voices of students, staff, and faculty, and embedding the work into the College's existing learning management system and CRM infrastructure, this project will lay the foundation for a sustainable, institution-wide intervention that increases the scale, effectiveness, and efficiency of student support services, ensuring that more low-income students persist through to graduation and achieve lasting economic independence.

<div>BuildaBridge is a 28-year-old Philadelphia-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing trauma-informed arts programming to marginalized youth and their communities. BuildaBridge uniquely positions creative expression as trauma healing through art-making. We serve 600+ youth annually through partnerships with recreation centers, schools, and human service organizations in Philadelphia's highest-need neighborhoods. Our pedagogical approach, the BuildaBridge Safe Spaces Model (SSM) uses creative self-expression (music, movement, visual arts, writing) to build resilience, self-efficacy, and hope in youth who have experienced trauma (directly, vicariously, and generationally). Grounded in Hope Theory, Polyvagal Theory, and the Capabilities Approach, programming provides accessible alternatives to clinical mental health systems that often create barriers for low-income families. We function as &quot;pre-responders,&quot; intervening before youth enter systems that can traumitize and retraumatize. Our evaluation demonstrates impact: 82% increased hopefulness, 85% improved self-efficacy, 91% stronger community connections. With an annual budget under $200,000, our lean structure allows flexibility while maintaining consistent quality through our trauma-informed training protocols. Key partnerships include the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime &amp; Delinquency, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, the School District of Philadelphia (certified supplier), JFCS Mental Health Network, and recreation centers serving violence-affected neighborhoods. We've trained hundreds of teaching artists over 20 years and are formalizing this expertise into scalable certification programs while developing technology infrastructure for sector-wide impact measurement. BuildaBridge envisions a world where all are resilient, experience self-efficacy, and have a vision for their future.<br>

<p></p><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><b>Member Duties :</b> The VISTA will scale trauma-informed arts programming for Philadelphia youth experiencing poverty and trauma by: (1) systematizing 28 years of teaching artist training into documented curriculum modules enabling consistent quality (2) implementing technology infrastruct, and (3) establishing youth leadership pathways through Youth Advisory Council and teaching artist apprenticeships that center community voice in organizational governance while creating sustainable systems for continued growth addressing barriers youth face accessing healing support. Learn about current trends in education evaluation technology and its intersection with trauma-informed art-making; explore various forms of software and web-based platforms that will help capture, measure, and synthesize data tracked from BuildaBridge programming; strengthen their abilty to share and present BuildaBridge data in written word and visuals.
