<div>American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a Plant Manager based at our Laurinburg, NC location.
AWF manufactures at 10 locations spanning the nation, has over 400 employees and generates over $100M in annual sales revenue.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:
I. SAFETY:<ul><li>
 Takes the lead role in plant safety committee and promotes safety and safe working habits on a daily basis.</li><li>
Responsible for safety, cleanliness and good housekeeping of entire plant with emphasis on meeting OSHA standards.</li><li>
Conducts or assists in regular safety meetings on a monthly basis or as needed.</li></ul> 
II. OPERATIONS &amp; TRANSPORTATION:<ul><li>
Responsible for general planning, directing, monitoring and supervision of all plant activities including; production, maintenance, shipping and receiving, inventory management, and special projects, to achieve the safest and most efficient operations possible within established budget guidelines.</li><li>
Strives to achieve balance between production and sales within the plant capabilities and raw material flow.</li><li>
Accountable for manufacturing costs, inventory levels, repairs, operating methods and effective use of labor-hours, skills, machines, equipment and facilities.</li><li>
Provide oversight for the facility&rsquo;s physical assets, personnel and equipment.</li><li>
Ensure efficient shipping of orders and raw material deliveries.</li><li>
Work with Sales to provide cost effective freight rates, timely schedules, and inventory information.</li><li>
Coordinates programs as they relate to operations, such as manufacturing methods and engineering, cost reductions, preventive and regular maintenance, training, and safety.</li></ul> 
III. QUALITY:<ul><li>
Maintains and verifies that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to production employees, office personnel and customers.</li><li>
Assists in the design and implementation of new procedures as needed. Ensure finished product and shipments meet quality standards.</li></ul> 
IV. PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS:<ul><li>
Completes and presents performance evaluations for plant personnel.</li><li>
May recommend promotions or transfers of personnel.
</li><li>Verifies accuracy of time cards for payroll.</li><li>
Monitors attendance of subordinates as well as compliance to policies, rules and regulations.</li><li>
Recommends and implements disciplinary action as required.</li></ul> 
V. STAFF<ul><li>
Provide training, mentorship, and development to all direct reports.</li><li>
Build up staff capabilities and develop long term succession planning.</li></ul>
VI. QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>
 Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations and maintenance.</li><li>
Basic understanding of LEAN principles and philosophy.</li><li>
Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices</li><li>
Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends</li><li>
Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to motivate/lead, assess and develop employee skills</li><li>
Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs</li><li>
Highly motivated, results oriented, driven and able to work in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>
Some light travel as needed (less than 10%).</li></ul> 
REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
 Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant management experience.</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent experience.</li></ul> 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Walking/Standing: Frequent walking and standing to oversee plant operations, safety compliance, and quality checks.</li><li>
Climbing: Occasional need to climb stairs or ladders for plant inspections.</li><li>
Manual Dexterity: Handling tools or equipment for inspections and quality checks.</li><li>
Heavy Lifting: Occasional lifting or overseeing material handling during inventory or transportation tasks.</li><li>
Outdoor Exposure: Possible exposure to varying weather conditions, especially during transportation oversight or outdoor inspections.</li><li>
PPE Requirements: Must wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, hard hat, gloves) when in the plant or operational areas.</li><li>
Endurance: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for 8+ hour shifts.</li></ul>
