We&rsquo;re seeking a talented Assistant Editor to join our team of product testers and service journalists.
The Assistant Editor, ATK Reviews will focus on creating new and updated equipment and ingredient reviews. This person will be responsible for hands-on testing, conducting research, and writing or revising reviews. The ideal candidate is meticulous and adheres to high standards of editorial integrity, and also efficient and pragmatic. To be successful in this role, candidates should be comfortable working in both a professional kitchen and a newsroom.
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Writing new and updated product reviews that demonstrate curiosity, objectivity, and scientific and journalistic rigor</li>
<li>Devising, conducting, and analyzing side-by-side tests of equipment and ingredients in our Reviews Lab and kitchens</li>
<li>Contacting industry experts and doing in-depth scientific research to explain the hows and why of equipment performance</li>
<li>Maintaining accurate testing logs that document your testing results and ensure repeatability of tests over time</li>
<li>Collaborating closely with other members of the team&mdash;participating in taste tests, assisting with equipment testings, and talking through each other&rsquo;s findings and discoveries</li>
<li>Providing production support for photo shoots and video shoots</li>
</ul>
Skills and Experience:
<ul><li>Writing or editing experience at a media company</li>
<li>Excellent reporting and writing skills with the ability to distill complex technical information into clear, compelling copy</li>
<li>Experience in a testing, research, and process-oriented environment</li>
<li>Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to carefully, precisely conduct tests</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of food with a deep passion for cooking; a formal culinary background is preferred but not required</li>
<li>Imaginative and strategic thinking and an eagerness to contribute original ideas and solutions</li>
<li>Enthusiasm for collaboration and a commitment to upholding the highest editorial standards</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and stay on schedule</li>
</ul>
This position is located in our Boston, MA office in the Seaport district. It is the expectation that the person in this role will work a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday &amp; Thursday) in the office and 2 days per week remotely.
Salary Range:
$ 56,000 - $ 60,000
The range provided is based on what we reasonably expect to pay for this job as of the time of posting. The actual salary offered will be determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate&rsquo;s relevant experience, job-related knowledge, skills, geographical location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
