<b>The Human Resource Assistant</b> provides comprehensive administrative and operational support across all HR functions, including payroll, performance management, benefits, compensation, recruitment and retention, onboarding and orientation, employee and labor relations, and HR policies, processes, and procedures. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees and supports the HR department in maintaining accurate records, delivering excellent service, and ensuring organizational compliance.</div><br>

Key Responsibilities</b></h3><br>
<ul>
<li>
Provide current and prospective employees with information regarding company policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, promotion opportunities, and employee benefits.</li>
<li>Serve as a liaison between employees and management by answering questions, interpreting HR policies, assisting with contract administration, and helping resolve work-related concerns.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and confidential employee records; compile reports and metrics related to hires, transfers, performance reviews, attendance, and other personnel data.</li>
<li>Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Support recruitment efforts, including posting positions, scheduling interviews, screening candidates, and coordinating onboarding and orientation activities.</li>
<li>Demonstrate excellent customer service in all interactions with employees, applicants, managers, and external partners.</li>
<li>Utilize MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level to prepare reports, documents, and presentations.</li>
<li>Experience with Paycom is a plus!</li>
<li>Perform other related HR duties as assigned to support departmental goals.</li></ul><div></div><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</b></h3><br>

Minimum of 3 years of related HR experience.</li>
<li>Bilingual in Spanish is required.</li>
<li>Strong decision-making skills with the ability to provide guidance in a fast-paced and evolving environment.</li>
<li>Excellent customer service skill set with a positive attitude.</li>
<li>Effective and persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written.</li>
<li>Highly organized, with strong time management, multi-tasking, and project management abilities.</li>

<li>Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues and proactively resolve them through creative thinking and collaboration.</li>

Key Responsibilities</b></h3><div><br>
A strong candidate should have proven ability to teach college-level legal-based courses, and experience with a wide range of legal-specific computer applications is highly preferred. The Legal Studies Institute seeks a faculty member that has a fundamental understanding of recent and future trends for the Paralegal field. Additionally, excellence in oral, written and interpersonal communication skills is required. Teaching assignments are for 15 faculty load hours per semester and include courses in criminal law and Introduction to Paralegal Studies. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the faculty member will have a role in curriculum development, assessment strategies, outcome measurements, special events, partnerships, and academic advising.</div><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</b></h3><div><br>
Primary responsibilities:</div><ul><li>Thirty faculty load hour annual contract taught during fall and spring terms, day and evening - including face-to-face, online or hybrid instruction and instruction at off-site locations (including local high schools and AACC satellite campuses at Arundel Mills and Glen Burnie)</li><li>Teach at least 50% of teaching load in person and 50% in a virtual environment.</li><li>Six office hours per week, including in person hours, during the fall and spring terms which may include student advising and mentoring</li><li>Teaching and assessing student learning</li><li>Professional development</li><li>Department, school and college/community service</li></ul><div></div><div><br>
In addition to a faculty member's primary responsibilities, the exceptional candidate will also demonstrate commitment and experience in one or more of the following areas:</div><div>
1. Mentoring students from target groups; new full-time or part-time faculty</div><div>
2. Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for all learning modalities</div><div>
3. Developing and implementing community education and engaged learning programs</div><div>
4. Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community</div><div>
5. Recruiting and marketing</div><div>
6. Devising retention strategies and activities</div><div>
7. Establishing and strengthening relationships and collaborative activities including K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleges</div><div><b>
Required Qualifications:</b></div><div>
J.D. degree</div><div></div><div><br>
Member in good standing of Maryland Bar or another state bar</div><div></div><div><br>
Prior teaching experience</div><div><b>
Preferred Qualifications:</b></div><div>
Three years of experience teaching law and/or conducting CLE programs</div><div></div><div><br>
Experience working with paralegals and/or experience working as a paralegal</div><div></div><div><br>
Experience in assessment, curriculum development, and/or curriculum design, a plus</div><div></div><div><br>
Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office, Adobe, legal specific software, including, but not limited to e-discovery software, Westlaw, LexisNexis, case management, billing software, etc.</div><div></div><div><br>
Experience in delivering instruction in non-traditional settings using various delivery modes</div><div></div><div><br>
Experience in a community college environment</div><div></div><div><br>
