Job SummaryA Preschool and Extended Care Teacher is part of a team of teachers and staff responsible for the general supervision and management of children enrolled in preschool, pre-kindergarten, extended day, and/or school age children in Extended Care. The teacher must possess a minimum of 24+ Early Childhood Education credits or a Child Development Teacher Permit issued through the State of California. If the candidate only possess the 12 ECE core units, they must be enrolled in an additional 6-9 ECE units.Responsibilities and Duties<ul><li>Design age-appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of individual children</li><li>Assist other teachers and staff in planning and implementing the daily program</li><li>Responsible for helping co-workers maintain the learning environment</li><li>Expected to model appropriate language and behavior for children</li><li>Supervise children with regard to health and safety at all times</li><li>Maintain professional attitude and sensitivity that reflects positively on our program</li><li>Initiate and help staff maintain general housekeeping of our classroom</li><li>Attend all staff meetings and classes required for professional growth</li><li>Assist in classroom management</li><li>Use redirection and the philosophy of Conscious Discipline to help children develop tools to independently solve problems</li><li>Possess the ability to be flexible and adapt to changes in the classroom as they arise</li></ul>Qualifications and Skills<ul><li>Must be at least 18 years of age</li><li>Must be a High School graduate</li><li>Must have completed a minimum of 24 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (12 core units acceptable, if enrolled in additional 6-9 ECE units)</li><li>Possess at least 6 months of work experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program</li><li>Must meet all licensing regulations specified for Teacher (101216.1) in Community Care Licensing Division, Child Care Center, Title 22 Division 12</li><li>Must have or be willing to attain Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification</li></ul>BenefitsMedical, dental and vision coverage, along with a retirement savings plan are currently offered to full-time employees only.
