Are you someone who enjoys working with your hands, learning new skills, and being part of a team that tests real-world products? APA &ndash; The Engineered Wood Association is hiring an Associate Laboratory Technician to support our lab team in Tacoma.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone new to lab or shop work, or for someone changing into a hands-on technical field. If you are dependable, curious, and comfortable working with tools and equipment, we will train you. 
What You Will Do
In this role, you will support day-to-day lab operations and learn how engineered wood products are tested and evaluated. Your work will include:<ul><li>
Set up and run basic lab tests using established procedures</li><li>
Prepare wood samples using saws and other shop tools</li><li>
Record test results and enter data into a computer database</li><li>
Assist with maintaining and cleaning lab equipment</li><li>
Support team projects, including helping build or modify test setup</li><li>
Work with scientists and engineers to establish testing procedures and project needs</li><li>
Follow all safety guidelines and keep your work area organized</li></ul>
What This Job Is (and Isn&rsquo;t)
This position is best suited for someone who:<ul><li>
Wants to build practical technical skills through hands-on training</li><li>
Is comfortable working with tools, equipment, and shop-based tasks</li><li>
Enjoys active, hands-on work throughout the shift including standing, lifting, and using shop tools and equipment</li></ul>
This role is not focused on advanced research design or senior-level technical work. It is a training-focused, support role with training provided.

Requirements: 
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>
Must be 18 years of age or older, in line with safety requirements for operating shop equipment</li><li>
High school diploma or equivalent</li><li>
Some hands-on experience (school, hobbies, or work) using tools or equipment</li><li>
Comfortable using basic computer programs for data entry</li><li>
Able to use heavy equipment</li><li>
Able to lift 50-75 lbs. with team support and work on your feet throughout the shift</li></ul>
Nice to Have (but not required)<ul><li>
Experience with shop tools (saws, drills, etc.)</li><li>
Forklift experience</li><li>
Exposure to mechanical or hydraulic equipment</li><li>
Wood or metal fabrication experience</li></ul>
Pay and Benefits
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the pay range for this position is:
$19.62 to $29.42 per hour, dependent upon experience.
