Appian is seeking a strategic, high-impact Program Manager to architect and lead key initiatives that elevate our Public Sector customer experience. In this role, you'll design and execute enterprise-wide programs that accelerate onboarding, drive product adoption, unlock value realization, and secure renewals&mdash;ensuring mission-critical outcomes for our government clients.

The ideal candidate is a visionary customer advocate with a proven track record of scaling customer-centric initiatives in the B2B SaaS space. You will operate as the critical connective tissue between Sales, Product, Marketing, and Support.

This role is based at our HQ in McLean, VA. While working in-person with customers is our top priority, we also believe that being in the office fosters the in-person collaboration that Appian was built on. As a Program Manager, you will:</h3>

<li>Design, implement, and optimize customer success programs for the US Army encompassing onboarding, adoption, value realization, and renewal.
</li>
<li>Lead and manage large-scale, cross-functional initiatives from initiation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and meet strategic objectives.
</li>
<li>Develop and manage a strategic roadmap of customer success initiatives that align with overarching company goals and customer needs.
</li>
<li>Serve as the voice of the customer within the organization, gathering and analyzing feedback to inform program development and product enhancements.
</li>
<li>Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for customer success programs, including but not limited to customer health scores, Net Promoter Score (NPS), churn rates, and renewal rates.
</li>
<li>Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to ensure a cohesive and unified customer experience across all touchpoints.
</li>
<li>Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.
</li>
<li>Identify and mitigate risks to customer success, proactively developing and implementing strategies to address challenges.
</li>
<li>Champion a customer-centric culture throughout the organization.
</li>
<li>Lead, mentor, and foster a high-performance culture among Customer Success team members.

</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Basic Qualifications:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
</li>
<li>A minimum of 10+ years of experience in program management that manages delivery of complex technology modernization initiatives within the Army or other relevant federal government agencies. Ideal candidates will have a PMP or PgMP certification and agile certifications (Certified Scrum Master, SAFe Agilist, etc.).
</li>
<li>Proven ability to develop and execute complex programs and large-scale projects with measurable results and managing over 50 resources and over $13M in annual services revenue.
</li>
<li>Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
</li>
<li>Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will have experience and relationships with clients within the Army.
</li>
<li>Proficiency with Appian, other modern platform technologies (e.g., Salesforce, ServiceNow, Palantir) and/or custom application development.
</li><li>Experience leading technology modernization leverage agile methodologies and AI enabled code generation approaches.
</li>
<li>US Citizenship with an ability to hold a US government clearance.
</li>
<li>Willingness to travel to client locations, as required.

 The Opportunity
 
 
 As a Database Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain a complex data architecture to support our long-term DoW efforts.&nbsp; With extensive experience with Relational Database Management Services (RDMS) and NoSQL databases, you will architect a data architecture for the program that will be capable of handling extremely large datasets, migrate legacy data into the modern architecture, and ensure high availability and performance for the systems being implemented.
 
 
 What You&rsquo;ll Do

 Design and develop database architectures and data models to support the customer&rsquo;s contract requirements by working closely with the Appian team to build logical and physical data models.

 Analyze legacy database structures to identify incompatibilities, data type mismatches, and migration risks before moving workloads to the cloud.&nbsp;

 Convert legacy stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions into target-compatible languages (such as PL/SQL or SQL), rewriting logic.

 The base salary range provided represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range at the time of posting. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for a government clearance differential. Actual compensation will be dependent on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate&rsquo;s relevant work experience, qualifications, internal peer equity, and market and business conditions that exist when extending an offer. As Lead Demo Engineer on SPEAR, you are not on the sidelines of SC 2.0 - you are leading one of the teams that makes it possible at scale. 


The Role

Are you a seasoned Appian developer with a passion for crafting impactful technology solutions and mentoring others? As the Lead Demo Engineer for Appian's SPEAR Team in Chennai, you'll take on a dual role: leading the day-to-day operations of the Chennai Demo Engineers and serving as a senior individual contributor yourself. You'll play a critical part in scaling Appian's global Presales organization by managing team workflows, providing technical guidance, and personally delivering the highest-quality demo assets that fuel hundreds of sales engagements each year. 


In this role, you'll act as both a manager and a technical lead. You'll oversee the daily activities of the team, monitor progress, ensure work is completed on time and to a high standard, and serve as a key resource for technical guidance when Demo Engineers run into challenges. You'll also continue to do the work yourself - de-branding prospect demos, modernizing aging assets with the latest Appian capabilities, contributing to DemoHub (Appian's centralized demo catalog and governance system), and producing polished clickable demos, walkthrough videos, and scripts. By fostering a collaborative and supportive environment, you'll empower your team to excel while ensuring alignment with global SPEAR priorities and deadlines. 


You will report directly to the US-based Area Vice President of Solutions Consulting, who leads the SPEAR Team. This reporting structure gives you a direct line into the strategy and priorities of Appian's global Presales organization, and positions you as the on-site Chennai leader and primary liaison between the Chennai team and stakeholders worldwide.

What you'll be doing...

<li>Operational Excellence: Own the cataloging and ingestion of product demos into DemoHub, maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and discoverability across hundreds of assets per year.

<li>Senior Technical Contribution: Personally de-brand prospect-specific demos, enhance them with advanced new Appian features, and prepare them for broader organizational use - setting the technical bar for the team's work.

<li>DemoHub Application Development: Lead and contribute to ongoing development and maintenance of the DemoHub Appian application itself - the platform that stores, governs, and surfaces demo content to the global SC team. This includes building new features, fixing bugs, and improving usability.

<li>Clickable Demo Production: Oversee and personally contribute to the recording, editing, and continuous updating of interactive clickable demos in a commercial third-party demo platform, ensuring our self-service and accelerated demo experiences stay accurate, on-brand, and current.

<li>Demo Artifact Creation: Produce and oversee production of supporting artifacts including walkthrough videos, demo scripts, talk tracks, and quick-reference guides that help SCs adopt and adapt assets quickly.

<li>Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between the Chennai team and global stakeholders, including the US-based SPEAR Team and Presales leadership, ensuring seamless communication, project execution, and knowledge transfer across time zones.

<li>Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement processes that improve the efficiency, quality, and throughput of demo ingestion, refinement, and maintenance workflows.

Who you are...

<li>Strong, senior-level experience with Appian or a similar low-code application development platform, including design, development, and debugging of complex applications.
</li>
<li>Proven ability to manage and mentor technical teams, with demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

<li>Excellent technical and programming skills, with concrete examples of delivering polished, impactful work that others have used as a benchmark.

<li>Highly organized, with a track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a high-volume, dynamic environment.

As a Demo Engineer on SPEAR, you are not on the sidelines of SC 2.0 - you are one of the people making it possible at scale. 


The Role 


Behind every great demo is a great demo asset, and that's where you come in. As a Demo Engineer on Appian's SPEAR Team in Chennai, you are the technical backbone that turns one-off sales demos into a polished, reusable, continuously evolving library that powers hundreds of sales engagements each year. While our Solutions Consultants are out in the field telling stories and co-creating with customers, you ensure they always have the right asset, in the right shape, ready to go. 


In this role, you'll capture, refine, and expand Appian product demos - de-branding prospect-specific work, modernizing older assets with the latest platform capabilities, and packaging everything into reusable demos, clickable demo experiences, walkthrough videos, and scripts. You'll also contribute directly to DemoHub, Appian's centralized demo catalog and governance system - helping evolve the application itself, not just the content inside it. 


You will be coached and guided by the Lead Demo Engineer based in Chennai, reporting to the SPEAR Team leadership in the US - giving you both strong local support and direct visibility into Appian's global Presales strategy.

<li>De-branding and Refinement: De-brand prospect-specific demos, clean up their design and functionality, and prepare them for broader organizational use - turning one-off assets into reusable gold.

<li>Demo Enhancement: Refresh and extend existing demos by incorporating advanced new Appian features and functionality, keeping the library current with the latest product releases, GTM narratives, and industry trends.
</li>
<li>DemoHub Application Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the DemoHub Appian application itself - the platform that stores, governs, and surfaces demo content to the global SC team. This includes building new features, fixing bugs, and improving usability.
</li>
<li>Clickable Demo Production: Record, edit, and continually update interactive clickable demos in a commercial third-party demo platform, ensuring our self-service and accelerated demo experiences stay accurate, on-brand, and aligned with current product capabilities.

<li>Demo Artifact Creation: Produce supporting artifacts including walkthrough videos, demo scripts, talk tracks, and quick-reference guides that help SCs adopt and adapt assets quickly.

<li>Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Solutions Consultants worldwide, the SPEAR Team, and other Presales stakeholders to ensure demo assets reflect the latest go-to-market priorities and customer outcomes.

<li>Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline demo ingestion, cataloging, and maintenance workflows, and help bring those ideas to life.

Who you are...
<ul>
<li>Strong experience with Appian or a similar low-code application development platform, including design, development, and debugging of applications.
</li>
<li>Excellent technical and programming skills are a must, with concrete examples of times you have applied them to deliver polished work.

<li>Attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality output - the kind that other people see and immediately want to copy.

Government Acquisition Management (GAM) Technical Delivery Managers (TDMs) are responsible for two of our most important company objectives: (1) ensure our customers achieve remarkable business results through technology engagements and (2) drive customer growth through technology expertise, trusted advice, relationships, and, most importantly, demonstrated results. In this specialized role, you will help government agencies modernize legacy procurement systems, dramatically reduce procurement cycle times, ensure rigorous compliance, and deliver better value to the public using Appian's pre-built acquisition lifecycle solutions.

GAM TDMs focus on managing and delivering Appian's pre-built acquisition lifecycle solutions. You will oversee all aspects of formal agile delivery for Appian-led engagements, consistent with Appian's structured delivery framework, including risk management and impediment removal. TDMs also team closely with front-line sales reps to drive growth in strategic accounts and integrated deals.

TDMs engage in all aspects of driving results and growth at strategic accounts, including: project management, account management, relationship building (both customers and partners), financial management, opportunity qualification, problem identification, project/use case definition, demand generation, services positioning, and account strategy. All of these activities are performed in partnership with Appian Sales, Appian Partners, Appian's Government Acquisition Management Industry and Product team, and other members of the Customer Success team, including Customer Success Managers (CSMs).

To be successful in this role, you need:

<li>Deep expertise in the business process of federal acquisition, possessing a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end procurement and contracting lifecycle, including familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and modern procurement vehicles.

<li>Industry-experience in Government Acquisition Management.</li>

As a Senior Program Manager, you will:</h3>
