 Position Overview
 
 
 The Service Technician is the position in the Service &amp; Construction Department that services the customer accounts in the field along with helping to supervise the water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems of the company&rsquo;s client districts.
 
 
 
 Essential Job Functions
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Investigate leaks and sewer back-ups
 </li>
 <li>
 Handle water quality complaints
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform disconnects and reconnects of water customers
 </li>
 <li>
 Flush water distribution system as required
 </li>
 <li>
 Customer Service &ndash; make customer contact as needed
 </li>
 <li>
 Read meters (Customer and Interconnect Meters)
 </li>
 <li>
 Pick up payments from Districts that maintain payment drop boxes
 </li>
 <li>
 Replace meters, meter boxes and meter box lids as required
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform water distribution system valve surveys
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform sanitary sewer system manhole surveys
 </li>
 <li>
 Report unauthorized discharges from the sanitary sewer system to the Regulatory Affairs Dept. so report can be submitted to TCEQ
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform other minor repairs in the water distribution or sanitary sewer collection systems
 </li>
 <li>
 Complete field work orders and submit to service department
 </li>
 <li>
 Post meeting agendas as required
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Education And Experience Requirements
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 High School or GED
 </li>
 <li>
 &ldquo;D&rdquo; Water and &ldquo;D&rdquo; Wastewater Certificates or Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Certificates issued by the TCEQ preferred
 </li>
 <li>
 Valid driver&rsquo;s license
 </li>
 <li>
 Clear driving record
 </li>
 <li>
 People Skills
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Other Skills/Abilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Mechanical aptitude
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to communicate with Supervisor

 Good physical condition and able to lift 25-50 pounds

 Work Environment
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

 <li>
 The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent physical stamina and endurance.
