The other weekdays are flexible after training is completed.2025 Benefits SummaryGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This part-time position is responsible for performing a variety of complex law enforcement duties primarily related to criminal investigations. Enforces Federal and State laws and County and the City of Centennial ordinances for the protection of life, health, safety, welfare and property. This position works under the general supervision of a Sergeant. Another deputy may function as an acting supervisor when assigned to do so or in the absence of higher authority.

Conducts interviews of victims, suspects, and witnesses.Develops leads, analyzes facts and data necessary for the development of probable cause and resolution of assigned cases.Collects and preserves physical evidence or oversees collection of evidence. May respond to calls for service related to active investigations on an emergency or non-emergency basis.Arrests suspects involved in misdemeanor or felony criminal activity; applies for warrant when appropriate; writes citations to individuals for minor violations of the law.Conducts surveillance operations as necessary.Directs crime scene to ensure proper procedures are followed in investigation.Prepares reports, forms, and documents related to investigative activities.Appears in court as witness/complainant to provide testimony.Provides assistance, direction, and support to persons in need during emergency and non-emergency situations.Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at a level that is determined at the Sheriff’s Office discretion.Interacts effectively with others and exercises good judgment when dealing with people in sensitive situations.Is available and willing to work such hours and overtime per day or per week as the Sheriff’s Office determines is necessary or desirable to meet its needs.Is available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the Sheriff’s Office determines are necessary or desirable to meet its needs.Follows and supports the mission, values, organizational philosophies, operational principles, code of conduct and policies and procedures of the Sheriff’s Office.Is committed to a high standard of safety laws and all of the Sheriff’s Office policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.May have to act as incident commander until a higher-ranking person assumes command.May be assigned other duties as necessary.

Specifically, extensive contact occurs with superiors, fellow workers, suspects, court officials, other Law Enforcement officials, arrestees and public. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The typical work environment for this position is an office environment. However, work is performed in the field as well and sometimes in circumstances involving hazards such as crimes, accidents, fires and disturbances which may be threatening to life or cause bodily harm. Work environment becomes extremely stressful during peak activity periods demanding full attention and coordination of numerous tasks simultaneously required. Personal contact with any individual of the public, an inmate or arrestee occurs on a daily basis. This position requires physical contact of touching, controlling, sitting by, as well as the examining of an individual’s extremities, and body cavities. Hand-to-hand exchanges and face-to-face verbal communications between the member and the public is required on a constant basis. This position may require immediate response to medical emergencies where blood, body fluids or other medical hazards may be present. The member may or may not have time to take precautionary and protective measures. May be assigned to work schedules requiring work on rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.401(a) DEFINED BENEFIT RETIREMENT PLAN: Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office employees participate in a mandatory defined benefit program designed to help employees establish a source of income for retirement years. Through the Plan, eligible employees must set aside 9.00 percent, which is subject to change in the coming years, on a pretax basis of which the County matches at 9.75%. The County also contributes 6.2% to Social Security.BIO-HAZARD NOTICE: This position has been determined to be an EXTREME exposure risk to "biohazards" including, but not limited to, viruses, toxins, and blood-borne pathogens, such as HIV/AIDS (human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome), HBV (hepatitis B virus), and air-borne transmissions of TB (tuberculosis).
