Position Summary</div><div>
The Head Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, agronomic health, and visual presentation of Weymouth Country Club&rsquo;s golf course, practice facilities, and club grounds. This leader will ensure championship-level playing conditions, superior aesthetics, and safe, sustainable operations while aligning with Arcis Golf&rsquo;s brand standards, environmental stewardship initiatives, and member-experience philosophy.</div><div></div><div>
This role requires a hands-on, people-first leader who combines agronomic expertise with strong team development, fiscal responsibility, and proactive communication with club leadership and membership.</div><div></div><div>
Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</div><div>
Course &amp; Grounds Management</div><ul><li>
Plan, coordinate, and execute all maintenance programs for greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and practice areas</li><li>
Deliver consistent, high-quality playing conditions aligned with member expectations and seasonal demands</li><li>
Oversee irrigation system performance, water management strategies, and conservation initiatives</li><li>
Maintain course set-up standards including mowing heights, hole locations, and tournament preparation</li><li>
Manage clubhouse grounds, landscaping, parking areas, and exterior aesthetics</li></ul><div></div><div>
Agronomy &amp; Environmental Stewardship</div><ul><li>
Develop and implement annual agronomic plans, fertility programs, and cultural practices</li><li>
Monitor turf health, soil conditions, pest pressures, and disease prevention</li><li>
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations</li><li>
Champion sustainable practices consistent with Arcis Golf initiatives (water usage, chemical management, equipment efficiency)</li></ul><div></div><div>
Leadership &amp; Staff Development</div><ul><li>
Recruit, train, schedule, and lead the golf course maintenance team</li><li>
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and professional growth</li><li>
Conduct performance evaluations and ongoing coaching for staff development</li><li>
Lead by example with a strong on-course presence and hands-on leadership style</li></ul><div></div><div>
Budgeting &amp; Financial Management</div><ul><li>
Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the golf course and grounds</li><li>
Control labor, chemical, equipment, and supply costs while maintaining quality standards</li><li>
Assist in capital planning for course improvements, renovations, and equipment replacement</li><li>
Track expenses, analyze variances, and provide clear reporting to club leadership</li></ul><div></div><div>
Communication &amp; Member Relations</div><ul><li>
Collaborate closely with the General Manager, Director of Golf, and club leadership</li><li>
Communicate agronomic plans, course conditions, and major projects clearly and professionally to members</li><li>
Support club tournaments, outings, and special events with exceptional course presentation</li><li>
Respond professionally to member feedback and concerns regarding course conditions</li></ul><div></div><div>
Safety &amp; Compliance</div><ul><li>
Enforce all safety protocols for staff, equipment operation, and chemical handling</li><li>
Maintain OSHA compliance and safety training standards</li><li>
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operated safely</li></ul><div></div><div>
Qualifications</div><div>
Required</div><ul><li>
Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field (or equivalent experience)</li><li>
Minimum 5&ndash;7 years of progressive golf course maintenance experience, including supervisory responsibility</li><li>
Strong agronomic knowledge of cool-season turf management</li><li>
Proven leadership and team-building skills</li><li>
Experience with irrigation systems, budgeting, and capital planning</li><li>
Valid pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain promptly)</li></ul><div></div><div>
Preferred</div><ul><li>
Experience at private clubs or high-expectation daily-fee facilities</li><li>
Prior experience within a multi-course or management company environment</li><li>
Knowledge of sustainable golf initiatives and water conservation programs</li><li>
Strong communication skills with members and boards</li></ul><div></div><div>
Physical Requirements</div><ul><li>
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions</li><li>
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate golf course maintenance equipment</li><li>
Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required</li></ul><div></div><div>
