Job Summary
Aretum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scrum Master/QA Test Engineer to join our team supporting a large-scale federal technology modernization program. As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for facilitating all scrum ceremonies (i.e.: stand-ups, backlog refinement, planning, reviews) as well as managing/updating documentation. As a QA Test Engineer, you will be responsible for validating application quality across multiple testing disciplines: functional testing, test automation, integration, accessibility, and performance testing. You will work as an embedded member of an Agile scrum team, executing manual and automated tests within sprint cycles, building and maintaining automation frameworks, evaluating UI code for WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance, integration, and conducting load and performance testing before major releases. This is a hands-on role that requires both being the scrum master and testing depth with the ability to facilitate and communicate findings clearly to developers, product owners, and program leadership.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Organize, conduct, and schedule all Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives</li><li>
Train and coach team members on agile processes, methods, and tasks to ensure consistent understanding and application of agile practices</li><li>
Maintain and groom the backlog, facilitating thorough and productive backlog grooming sessions</li><li>
Manage agile/project artifacts, ensuring all project tracking and documentation are up-to-date and accurately reflect project status</li><li>
Track progress towards project delivery goals and provide leadership with high-level summaries and updates on project progress</li><li>
Execute functional testing of web application features, validating stories against acceptance criteria and documenting defects with clear reproduction steps, severity classification, and expected versus actual behavior</li><li>
Build, maintain, and expand automated regression test suites using Playwright, Cypress, and Selenium with Cucumber/Gherkin BDD patterns, integrated into GitLab CI pipelines for continuous feedback</li><li>
Create and maintain automated API test collections using Postman and Rest Assured to validate microservice endpoints, inter-service contracts, and integration points with external systems</li><li>
Create and maintain integration test cases / scenarios
</li><li>Perform digital accessibility evaluations on coded solutions using automated tools (aXe, pa11y, WAVE, ANDI) and manual techniques (JAWS and NVDA screen reader testing) per WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards, following the DHS Trusted Tester conformance test process</li><li>
Document accessibility findings with specific WCAG success criteria references and actionable remediation guidance that enables developers to resolve issues efficiently</li><li>
Execute load and performance tests using NeoLoad, JMeter, or equivalent tools to validate response times, throughput, and error rates against defined thresholds before production releases</li><li>
Maintain test plans and test cases in Confluence linked to Jira stories, with test evidence documented for sprint reviews</li><li>
Collaborate with developers to define clear acceptance criteria and test criteria during backlog refinement, ensuring stories are testable before development begins</li><li>
Participate fully in Agile ceremonies within a scrum framework: Sprint Planning, Standup, Sprint Review, Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement</li><li>
Maintain CI-integrated test suites at a 95% pass rate or above and resolve flaky tests promptly to keep automation a reliable quality gate</li><li>
Support production triage when assigned, diagnosing issues and verifying fixes through the standard CI/CD pipeline</li><li>
Contribute to test strategy improvements, automation framework enhancements, and knowledge sharing across the project team</li></ul> 

Requirements 
<ul><li>
4+ years of applicable experience in software quality assurance and testing
</li><li>Bachelor's degree (or 2 years of additional experience)</li><li>
Certified Scrum Master (or equivalent certification, or 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master)</li><li>
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, including Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright, with the ability to write and maintain test scripts in Java and/or JavaScript</li><li>
Experience in creating and maintaining system integration test cases / scenarios
</li><li>1+ year of experience with Selenium and/or Playwright for end-to-end browser automation, including test script development, cross-browser configuration, and CI pipeline integration</li><li>
1+ year of experience with performance and load testing tools such as NeoLoad or JMeter, including script creation, threshold definition, and results analysis</li><li>
Experience writing BDD test scenarios using Cucumber/Gherkin syntax and implementing step definitions</li><li>
Proficiency with API testing tools such as Postman and Rest Assured, including creating collections, writing assertions, and validating FastAPI and/or RESTful service responses</li><li>
Working knowledge of digital accessibility testing, including WCAG 2.1 AA standards, Section 508 compliance, and experience using automated accessibility scanning tools (aXe, pa11y, WAVE, or ANDI)</li><li>
Experience with manual screen reader testing using JAWS or NVDA for accessibility evaluation beyond automated scanning</li><li>
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred) and understanding of how automated tests integrate into build and deployment workflows</li><li>
Strong defect documentation skills: ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports with severity classification and supporting evidence</li><li>
Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube, including reading coverage reports and quality dashboards</li><li>
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear status updates, collaborate with developers on defect resolution, and present test results to stakeholders</li><li>
Experience with creation and maintenance of project documentation such as user guides, system changes, system guides, etc.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>
Experience with the federal government
</li><li>Degree in computer science, engineering or related field</li><li>
Proficiency with Agile project management tools (Jira, Confluence) and experience working in Scrum or SAFe environments with 2 to 3 week sprint cycles</li><li>
DHS Trusted Tester certification with experience applying the Trusted Tester conformance test process to evaluate Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance on web applications
</li><li>ISTQB certification (Foundation or Advanced Level) or equivalent QA certification</li><li>
IAAP certification (WAS, CPACC, or CPWA) or equivalent accessibility certification</li><li>
Experience testing on open-source applications
</li><li>Familiarity with microservices architecture and container-based deployment patterns</li><li>
Experience testing applications that integrate with federal identity providers
</li><li>Background in testing VueJs web applications with responsive design requirements</li></ul>
Travel Requirements
This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.

Job Summary
Aretum is seeking an Accessibility Specialist to join our team supporting a large-scale federal technology modernization program. As an Accessibility Specialist, you will be embedded within a User Experience and Accessibility Services workstream, performing accessibility evaluation throughout the software development lifecycle using both automated and manual techniques. You will evaluate design concepts and coded solutions against Section 508 (36 C.F.R. 1194.1), WCAG 2.1 A and AA, and applicable agency digital accessibility standards, beginning during wireframing and continuing through high-fidelity prototypes and code review. You will document accessibility issues and fixes in the program's tracking systems, author Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) prior to major releases, and collaborate daily with the program's accessibility leads, product owners, UX designers, and developers to ensure accessibility issues are identified early and remediated within sprint cadence. This is a hands-on role that requires deep, current expertise in digital accessibility evaluation and the ability to work effectively inside a SAFe Agile environment.

Responsibilities<ul><li>
Evaluate design concepts for accessibility issues and opportunities in alignment with applicable federal digital accessibility standards, providing expert guidance on how to address gaps in design concepts</li><li>
Collaborate with the program's accessibility lead and federal accessibility staff to ensure early identification and resolution of accessibility barriers</li><li>
Conduct manual and automated accessibility evaluations on coded solutions, beginning during wireframing and continuing through high-fidelity prototypes and code review</li><li>
Document accessibility issues and fixes in the program's project tracking and documentation systems, with WCAG 2.1 success criteria mapping, severity classification, and clear remediation guidance for developers</li><li>
Report accessibility test results on coded solutions and ongoing issues per Sprint and on a major release basis for the federal accessibility team's review and validation</li><li>
Author Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) and/or Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) prior to major releases, aligned to Section 508 and applicable agency accessibility standards</li><li>
Produce accessibility review notes, annotated design files, issue summaries, and full accessibility conformance evaluation reports as program deliverables</li><li>
Verify accessible code per the standards defined in the applicable Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan and support remediation of accessibility issues identified in the program backlog</li><li>
Ensure designs and patterns support users without vision; with limited vision; without perception of color; without hearing; with limited hearing; without speech; with limited manipulation; with limited reach and strength; and with limited language, cognitive, and learning abilities</li><li>
Proactively identify potential accessibility barriers in design and development solutions and raise them for discussion and remediation with the program's accessibility architects and product owners, working closely with the development team to ensure successful remediation</li><li>
Review documentation of accessibility considerations included with design handoffs in collaboration with federal accessibility staff</li><li>
Participate in the User-Centered Design (UCD) process (Discover, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Validate) ensuring accessibility is considered from the earliest stages of UX work, including information architecture, wireframes, visual design, and content strategy</li><li>
Participate fully in SAFe Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Sprint Review, Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement), planning and estimating accessibility work within normal sprint workflows rather than as external dependencies</li><li>
Contribute to design system governance by reviewing proposed components, patterns, and tokens against WCAG 2.1 A and AA standards prior to final approval</li><li>
Coordinate with product owners, federal subject matter experts, software engineering staff, user experience design staff, accessibility staff, and IT security staff as needed to align accessibility work with program priorities</li></ul> 

Requirements 
<ul><li>
Minimum 3 years of applicable experience as a digital accessibility specialist evaluating web applications throughout the software development lifecycle using both automated and manual techniques</li><li>
Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent additional experience)</li><li>
Demonstrated, hands-on experience evaluating web applications against WCAG 2.1 A and AA, Section 508 (36 C.F.R. 1194.1), and equivalent federal digital accessibility standards</li><li>
Hands-on proficiency with manual screen reader testing using JAWS and NVDA</li><li>
Hands-on proficiency with accessibility evaluation tools including aXe, pa11y, ANDI, and a Color Contrast Analyzer</li><li>
Demonstrated experience authoring Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) and/or Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for software products</li><li>
Experience evaluating design artifacts (wireframes, mockups, prototypes, design system components) in Figma for accessibility conformance prior to developer handoff</li><li>
Experience documenting accessibility issues, fixes, and test evidence in Jira and Confluence, with the ability to map findings to specific WCAG success criteria and provide actionable remediation guidance to developers</li><li>
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, integrating accessibility evaluation into sprint cadence rather than as a downstream activity</li><li>
Working knowledge of the User-Centered Design (UCD) process and the ability to embed accessibility into Discovery, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Validate phases</li><li>
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear status updates, collaborate with designers and developers on remediation, and present accessibility results to government stakeholders</li></ul>

Experience supporting federal government clients</li><li>
