Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Assess and monitor patient&rsquo;s physical and emotional well-being</li><li>
Documents nursing encounters in the Electronic Medical Record</li><li>
Verifies regimen orders and administers chemotherapy, biologics, immunotherapy and supportive care medications according to institutional policies and protocols</li><li>
Recognizes and responds to cancer-related issues including toxicities and oncological emergencies</li><li>
Assesses readiness of patient/family to learn and provide individualized patient education</li><li>
Provides compassionate support to patients and family</li><li>
Communicates with patients and providers pertinent concerns or feedback</li><li>
Identifies and works to resolve barriers that impede quality, safe and efficient delivery of patient treatment and care</li><li>
Triage and prioritize needs of patients either directly or by phone</li><li>
Participates and monitors quality improvement activities</li><li>
Responsible for clinical scheduling, employee evaluations and staff development for clinical team members</li><li>
Acts as a liaison between the clinical and administrative staff</li><li>
Assists in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.</li></ul>
Key Competencies:<ul><li>
Knowledge of oncology practices and treatments.</li><li>
Knowledge of current developments in cancer diagnosis and therapy.</li><li>
Knowledge of research practices for phases I, II and III clinical trials.</li><li>
Oncology resource to colleagues, allied health personnel and health care consumers.</li><li>
Ability to administer chemotherapy and other treatment therapies.</li><li>
Ability to empathize with patients and families and deal with grief and challenging patient interactions.</li><li>
Ability to collaborate with health care team to make personalized treatment plan for each cancer patient</li><li>
Ability to cope with death and dying.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Graduate of an accredited nursing program</li><li>
Prior experience in oncology nursing preferred</li><li>
BLS certification</li><li>
Current Arizona RN license in good standing</li><li>
Competent in venipuncture and vascular access</li><li>
Completion of ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course</li></ul>
