Managing Attorney &mdash; Arizona &amp; WashingtonMecartea and Associates, PLLCPosition OverviewMecartea and Associates PLLC seeks a highly skilled and mission-driven Managing Attorney to oversee firm operations and legal teams in Arizona and Washington State. The Managing Attorney will supervise attorneys and support staff across the firm&rsquo;s International Law, Immigration Law, Civil &amp; Human Rights, and Family &amp; Juvenile Law divisions. This position ensures high-quality legal services, professional development of team members, and consistent alignment with the firm&rsquo;s values of justice, advocacy, and community-centered representation.The Managing Attorney reports directly to the Executive Leadership / Managing Partner of Mecartea and Associates PLLC.Primary ResponsibilitiesLeadership &amp; Management<ul><li>Provide day-to-day leadership to legal teams in Arizona and Washington.</li></ul><ul><li>Supervise attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants in assigned practice areas.</li></ul><ul><li>Conduct regular case reviews, ensure compliance with firm standards, and maintain efficient workflow.</li></ul><ul><li>Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations for legal staff.</li></ul><ul><li>Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.</li></ul>Practice OversightInternational Law<ul><li>Guide teams handling cross-border legal matters, treaty-based claims, and international human rights advocacy.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure adherence to relevant international frameworks and foreign-jurisdiction processes.</li></ul>Immigration Law<ul><li>Oversee litigation and administrative matters including asylum, family-based petitions, removal defense, visas, naturalization, and humanitarian relief.</li></ul><ul><li>Monitor legal developments and ensure best practices across offices.</li></ul>Civil &amp; Human Rights<ul><li>Supervise impact litigation, civil rights investigations, and strategic advocacy for underserved communities.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure legal strategies reflect current federal, state, and international protections.</li></ul>Family &amp; Juvenile Law<ul><li>Manage cases involving custody, dependency, guardianship, child welfare, and protective orders.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and legally sound representation.</li></ul>Strategy &amp; Compliance<ul><li>Develop policies and procedures to support ethical, efficient, and high-quality service.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure compliance with state bars (Arizona &amp; Washington), federal regulations, and international practice requirements.</li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth, community partnerships, and program development.</li></ul>Client Relations &amp; Representation<ul><li>Handle select high-impact or complex cases.</li></ul><ul><li>Provide mentorship and case strategy support to attorneys.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure consistent, compassionate, client-centered representation across practice teams.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.</li></ul><ul><li>License to practice law in Arizona, Washington, or both (dual licensure preferred; ability to obtain reciprocal admission acceptable).</li></ul><ul><li>Minimum 7&ndash;10 years of legal practice, with demonstrated leadership experience.</li></ul><ul><li>Strong background in at least one of the core practice areas; familiarity with all is preferred.</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated commitment to civil rights, immigrant justice, and community advocacy.</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to manage multi-state teams and work across diverse legal disciplines.</li></ul>Location &amp; Travel<ul><li>Position may be based in Arizona or Washington, with required travel between offices as necessary.</li></ul><ul><li>Remote and hybrid flexibility may be available depending on office needs.</li></ul>Compensation &amp; Benefits(Optional&mdash;can customize if you want details)<ul><li>Competitive salary (DOE).</li></ul><ul><li>Benefits package typically includes healthcare, retirement, paid leave, and professional development.</li></ul><ul><li>Bar dues, CLE credits, and some travel expenses covered by the firm.</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timePay: $96,219.24 - $115,876.93 per yearWork Location: Remote
