<h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>About this role:</b></h2>
<p>As a Field Engineer, SWAT, you will join our field team to deliver world-class technical solutions to customer and prospect business problems. In this role, you will be exposed to a wide range of use cases where Apache Airflow sits at the center of the solution.</p>
<p>The impacts you will make will enable customers to rapidly grow their businesses by adopting Astronomer products to meet their goals.</p>
<p></p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What you get to do:</b></h2>
<ul><li><p>Implement Astronomer&rsquo;s software and services in the core of some of the world&rsquo;s largest businesses and organizations.</p>
</li><li><p>Guide our largest and most complex customers in their Apache Airflow journeys</p>
</li><li><p>Act as the core interface between the Customer, Sales, and Product to ensure that the broader solution around the platform is solving pain points and bringing value to customers.</p>
</li></ul><p></p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What you bring to the role:</b></h2>
<ul><li><p>Strong Kubernetes experience (GKE/EKS/AKS or OpenShift preferred)</p>
</li><li><p>Expertise in at least one programming language.</p>
</li><li><p>Good understanding of network complexities and architectures</p>
</li><li><p>Versatile Terminal and CLI user, this will be a hands-on role, frequently without access to a GUI</p>
</li><li><p>Experience setting up and troubleshooting distributed systems</p>
</li><li><p>Experience with complex SaaS infrastructure operating at scale</p>
</li><li><p>Experience with at least one major cloud provider API/tooling</p>
</li><li><p>Ability to read code</p>
</li><li><p>Work effectively with git</p>
</li><li><p>Cloud-native data architecture experience</p>
</li><li><p>Strong customer facing skills</p>
</li><li><p>Strong oral and written communications skills - should be able to explain complex technical issues to non-technical folks succinctly</p>

<ul><li><p>Prior experience using or administering Apache Airflow, Autosys, UC4, Temporal, Dagster, or Prefect</p>
</li><li><p>Proficiency in Python/Go.</p>
</li><li><p>Enterprise data experience with or in regulated environments</p>
</li><li><p>Experience with scripting/automation specifically infra (Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)</p>
</li><li><p>5+ years experience in a data engineering role or equivalent</p>

We&rsquo;re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. You get to go in at the ground level of how our production infrastructure is designed, built, tested and deployed. Your work will directly influence how we build Astro, Observe and our IDE product, as well as how global organizations orchestrate data pipelines at scale&mdash;making them faster, more reliable, and easier to manage. </li><li><p><b>Be an Owner</b>: Be directly involved in decision-making on what we work on, as well as how we work on it. Make promises, and keep them.</p>
</li><li><p><b>Do Sensible Things</b>: Be directly involved in determining how our platform works. Participate in incident management and determine sensible practices as the platform evolves.</p>
</li><li><p><b>Garage Door Open</b>: Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for systems and processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility.</p>

<ul><li><p>Strong experience in Non-Abstract Systems design and implementation.</p>
</li><li><p>Strong proficiency in Python, Golang and in-depth experience with Kubernetes (CKA or equivalent or greater).</p>
</li><li><p>Experience with observability principles and technologies, including SLI/SLO definition and tracking.</p>
</li><li><p>Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in working with a globally distributed team in delivery.</p>
</li><li><p>A passion for reliability and operational excellence. A low tolerance for toil and other nonsense.</p>
</li><li><p>Ability to estimate the scope of work accurately and coordinate with stakeholders to address risks and ensure successful project delivery.</p>
</li><li><p>Experience with (and ideally strong opinions on) software development best practices, such as code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation and debugging.</p>
</li><li><p>Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues, with a focus on ownership and accountability.</p>
</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Bonus points if you have:</b></h2>
<ul><li><p>Experience working on a SaaS/PaaS product across multiple cloud providers.</p>

</li><li><p>Experience of the innards and quirks of AWS, GCP and (particularly) Azure.</p>
</li><li><p>Participated in an on-call rotation - this role involves periodic on-call for the services we own.</p>
