<div>Scaffold Builder Journeyman - Austin Industrial

Austin Industrial is a merit shop, employee-owned company and has been a provider of construction, maintenance, plant services, turnaround and specialty services to the oil, gas and chemical, energy (power and ethanol), and manufacturing industries for more than 60 years.

Scaffold Builder Journeyman

This person will construct, assemble, maintain, and dismantles tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures. This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required within the Scaffolding craft. Other duties may be assigned.

 Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Determines type of scaffold needed.</li>
<li>Inspects job site and all scaffold material for defects and safety hazards.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Effectively communicates safety hazards and mitigates avoidable hazards prior to construction of scaffolding.</li>
<li>Transports tubular scaffold or other structural material and erects the scaffold to the dimensions required.</li>
<li>Hoists scaffolding materials upward in order to erect temporary structure.</li>
<li>Properly secures and levels locking sections of scaffolding material.</li>
<li>Properly secures scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Adheres to all OSHA, site specific and Austin Industrial requirements for the erecting and navigation of the scaffolding.</li>
<li>Performs final inspection of completed scaffolding.</li>
<li>Dismantles scaffolding when it has been properly communicated to do so.</li>
<li>Inspects and properly stows scaffolding material after dismantling.</li>

Qualifications Required for this Position:

Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. For safety reasons, it is imperative that the employee be able to read and speak fluent English.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

QAQC Technician

Summary: Ensures welding work is safe and ready to function as part of the structure or device it is a part of. This role is vital in ensuring that safety regulations are followed and that welders and their workplaces are safe. The QA/QC Inspector is expected to be fully conversant with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, arc, laser and butt with metals, including steel and aluminum for use on tubes, non-tubular bars, plates and tanks. This is conducted by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties:
<ul>
<li>Daily Construction Surveillance:</li>
<li>Perform daily inspections at project sites, focusing on welding, structural, and civil work.</li>
<li>Monitor the progress of construction and ensure all processes are compliant with standards.</li>
<li>Reporting: Draft daily reports based on site observations, highlighting discrepancies or safety issues.</li>
<li>Report non-compliance or other issues to the QA/QC Manager and Project Manager.</li>
<li>Code Compliance Inspections: Coordinate inspections to ensure that work aligns with client specifications and state laws.</li>
<li>Map out welds to be performed and flag those for Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) when needed.</li>
<li>NDE Inspections: Perform Non-Destructive Examinations (NDE) of welds, as necessary.</li>
<li>Fully inspect welds before and after the hydrostatic testing of welded piping or vessels.</li>
<li>Hydrostatic Testing: Witness the hydrostatic testing (hydro) of welded piping or vessels to ensure integrity and compliance.</li>
<li>Collaboration with Client QA Personnel: Collaborate effectively with client QA teams to address quality concerns and ensure quality assurance standards are met.</li>
<li>Indirect Supervision of Welders: Oversee the work of welders in the Operations Department, ensuring they adhere to Austin Industrial&rsquo;s policies, procedures, and safety standards.</li>
<li>Supervisory Tasks: Interview, hire, and train employees, as necessary.</li>
<li>Plan, assign, and direct work to ensure successful project completion.</li>
<li>Evaluate employee performance, reward accomplishments, and address issues like complaints or non-performance.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>

Qualifications Required for this Position:
<ul>

Eight or more years&rsquo; experience with ASME B31.36 and ASME Sec VIII and NBIC AWS CWI. ASNT Level II in VT, MT and PT. Minimum of 8 years of Quality Control experience in the industrial industry. Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) ASNT (SNT-TC-1A) Level II in one or more method: PT, UTT (thickness readings), or RTI (film interpretation) preferred or equivalent education. Engineering degrees can substitute for some or all the CWI and ASNT certifications Civil, structural, mechanical, and minor electrical inspection experience needed. Auditing experience preferred. Read and interpret project drawings and specifications.</li>

Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries. Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats, following blueprints. Work involves use of hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, or turnbuckles. Assist in testing assembled vessels. Engages in the direct cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces. Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines. This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects, such as leaks, weak spots, or defective sections, so that they can be repaired.</li>
<li>Bolt or arc welds pressure vessel structures and parts together, using wrenches or welding equipment.</li>
<li>Inspect assembled vessels or individual components, such as tubes, fittings, valves, controls, or auxiliary mechanisms, to locate any defects.</li>
<li>Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts, such as safety valves or regulators, using torches, jacks, caulking hammers, power saws, threading dies, welding equipment, or metalworking machinery.</li>
<li>Attach rigging and signal crane or hoist operators to lift heavy frame and plate sections or other parts into place.</li>
<li>Bell, bead with power hammers, or weld pressure vessel tube ends to ensure leakproof joints.</li>
<li>Lay out plate, sheet steel, or other heavy metal and locate and mark bending and cutting lines, using protractors, compasses, and drawing instruments or templates.</li>
<li>Install manholes, handholes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, or feedwater connections in drums of water tube boilers, using hand tools.</li>
<li>Study blueprints to determine locations, relationships, or dimensions of parts.</li>
<li>Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or structure parts, using hammers, jacks, or torches.</li>
<li>Shape seams, joints, or irregular edges of pressure vessel sections or structural parts to attain specified fit of parts, using cutting torches, hammers, files, or metalworking machines.</li>
<li>Position, align, and secure structural parts or related assemblies to boiler frames, tanks, or vats of pressure vessels, following blueprints.</li>
<li>Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on boiler foundations, following blueprints and using straightedges, squares, transits, or measuring instruments.</li>
<li>Shape or fabricate parts, such as stacks, uptakes, or chutes, to adapt pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or piping to premises, using heavy-metalworking machines such as brakes, rolls, or drill presses.</li>
<li>Clean pressure vessel equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents.</li>
<li>Install refractory bricks or other heat-resistant materials in fireboxes of pressure vessels.</li>
<li>Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop prior to installation to ensure proper fit.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>

Pipefitter

This person will be able to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.</li>
<li>Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.</li>
<li>Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.</li>

<li>Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.</li>
<li>Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.</li>
<li>Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches.</li>
<li>Remove and replace worn components.</li>
<li>Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness.</li>
<li>Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.</li>
<li>Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to obtain a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action.</li>
