JOB SUMMARY
Lay out, fit, and weld metal components to assemble beds, frames, and small parts work orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Actively observe and promote BWise safety standards</li><li>
Analyze drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operation.</li><li>
Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using a variety of measuring tools.</li><li>
Tack-weld or welds component and assemblies using welding equipment.</li><li>
Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.</li><li>
Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisor.</li><li>
Evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.</li><li>
Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using appropriate measuring instruments.</li><li>
Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinder or hand file.</li><li>
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.</li><li>
Ignite torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.</li><li>
Other duties, as assigned by Welding Supervisor.</li></ul>
PHYSICAL DEMANDS &amp; WORK ENVIRONMENT
<ul><li>Must be capable of standing for entire shift and sit for extended periods of time.</li><li>
Able to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping.</li><li>
Will be exposed to extreme heat and cold depending on weather.</li><li>
Subject to dirt, dust, oil, welding fumes, electric shock, bright lights, UV radiation, burns, traffic hazards, and high noise levels in the workplace.</li></ul>

Steel-toed shoes or composite shoes</li><li>
Safety glasses</li><li>
Earplugs</li><li>
Gloves when handling any material</li><li>
Welding Helmet (Company doesn&rsquo;t provide helmet but provides all consumables including lenses.)</li><li>
Grinding shield</li><li>
Welding sleeves</li></ul>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS &amp; REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>
High School Diploma or GED.</li><li>
Must be able to read, write, count, communicate by various channels.</li><li>
Must have appropriate high school, vocational-technology school, or trade school training/certification in welding and/or demonstrated ability/expertise from on-the-job training from previous employment.</li><li>
Understand fundamentals of metallurgy as they relate to welding.</li><li>
Ability to read a tape measure.</li><li>
Ability to read and fully comprehend work instructions, prints, and work specifications.</li></ul></div>
