</b></p><div><p>As a Video Editor at Backroads, you&rsquo;ll play a critical role in shaping how our Backroads trips come to life through video. With a constant influx of footage captured by guests, trip leaders, and photographers around the world, you will transform raw content into a steady stream of polished, engaging stories that inspire audiences and strengthen brand affinity. This is a hands-on editing role focused on crafting high-quality short- and mid-form videos optimized for social media, web, YouTube and paid channels&mdash;ensuring every piece reflects the Backroads brand and resonates with our audience. <i>This is not a field-based role; all work centers on post-production and editing rather than traveling to capture footage.</i></p><p></p><p>
Sitting at the intersection of brand storytelling, social media and performance marketing, you&rsquo;ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver content that is both creative and results-driven. Success in this role means consistently producing compelling video content at scale, efficiently turning raw footage into on-brand assets, and aligning output with clear marketing objectives. You&rsquo;ll also help maintain a well-organized, accessible video library that empowers teams to maximize the impact of our content across all platforms.</p></div><p><b><br>
What you'll be doing:</b><br>
Video Editing</p><ul><li>
Review, organize and select from large volumes of guest, leader and staff footage across media types, including phone/UGC content and RAW mirrorless/DSLR footage</li><li>
Edit high-quality short form and mid-form videos for social, web, YouTube and paid media</li><li>
Edit RAW content into polished deliverables, including audio revision, color correction, and stabilization methods</li><li>
Adapt single pieces of footage into multiple platform‑specific versions</li><li>
Maintain Backroads&rsquo; brand voice and visual style across all video content</li><li>
Ensure video assets are delivered in the correct formats for each platform</li></ul><p><br>
Asset Management</p><ul><li>
Own the organization and maintenance of the video asset library for easy retrieval and reuse across the video &amp; content team</li><li>
Develop consistent tagging and storage practices for incoming footage</li><li>
Ensure footage and finished assets are archived properly</li><li>
Collaboration &amp; Project Management</li><li>
Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors when additional editing or production support is needed</li><li>
Serve as an internal point person for video content questions and needs</li><li>
Provide light guidance to staff contributing footage on how to capture more usable content</li><li>
Track projects through Jira and participate in weekly video production meetings</li></ul><p><b><br>
What you'll need to be successful</b>:
</p><ul><li>3+ years of experience editing digital video content in a fast-paced content-rich environment with concurrent deadlines</li><li>
Strong storytelling instincts and ability to find narratives within existing footage</li><li>
Experience creating content for social media, YouTube, websites and paid channels</li><li>
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of media files</li><li>
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere (After Effects or motion graphics experience a plus, but not primary)</li><li>
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently</li><li>
Strong written and verbal communication skills</li><li>
Experience working cross functionally with marketing, social or brand teams</li><li>
Background in travel, outdoor, lifestyle or sports content a plus</li></ul><p><b><br>

On-Site, Berkeley, CA</li><li>
4 days in-office, 1 day work from home</li><li>
This is not a field-production role, therefore this role does not travel to shoot footage on-trip.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>

Salary Ranges:</b></h1>
$78,000.00 - $100,000.00<div><p>
At Backroads, we uphold a commitment to transparency and fairness within our hiring process, particularly regarding compensation. The salary range posted for each role applies to both employment offers and employees actively working in the role.</p><p></p><p>
New hires are typically offered a starting salary between the minimum and midpoint of the range to ensure there is continued opportunity for salary progression during your employment at Backroads, reflecting our commitment to rewarding ongoing dedication, high performance, and significant contributions to our team. This approach not only supports our budgeting strategy but also our intention to foster an environment that encourages long-term growth and strong relationships between Backroads and our valued employees.</p><p></p><p>
Our office roles are onsite in our Berkeley headquarters, unless specifically noted as 'available for remote'. We do allow one work-from-home day a week, as well as one work-from-anywhere week per year. This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters. Pay ranges for remote-eligible roles will be subject to adjustment based on the geolocation of the employee.</p></div></div>
