 BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a Top Ten Prime Contractor to the Department of War, is hiring a Welding Manufacturing Engineer to support the manufacturing of weapon systems.

 We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Welding Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a Welding Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the welding operations and production of large complex assemblies. This position will work a 9/80 schedule and have every other Friday off.
 
 
 
 
 
 To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a strong technical aptitude, a focus on quality, good communication skills, and be able to work cross-functionally within the operations organization and with other disciplines / functions.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 The Welding Manufacturing Engineer
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Develops processes for the fabrication, testing, weld integrity, accuracy, and delivery of products to our customers.
 </li>
 <li>
 Works cross functionally across multiple teams to support operations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Analyzes NDT inspection reports and data to understand root cause and provide repair plans to production.
 </li>
 <li>
 Researches and Recommends weld equipment and automation solutions to eliminate defects and drive consistency.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepares and conducts weld engineering analysis of materials and procedures, engaged in weld procedure and performance qualifications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Uses knowledge of metallurgy, material weldability, welding robotics, and associated programming to improve existing processes or create new processes to increase delivery cadences.
 </li>
 <li>
 Reviews supplier capability and suitability to provide acceptable product and comply with government specifications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Develops or contributes to the creation of welding standards and specifications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Develops weld repair procedures as necessary.
 </li>
 <li>
 Addresses non-conformances and assists in Root Cause and Corrective Action activities.
 </li>
 <li>
 Develops and writes technical documentation, revises existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to set up, organize, and populate Manufacturing Engineering production information using Microsoft Office suite applications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Develops work documentation including routings and work instructions to guide weld workforce how to perform welding tasks.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to understand, interpret, and apply welding specifications.
 </li>
 <li>
 A background in heavy fabrication and manufacturing is necessary to adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment.
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 
 Required Education, Experience, &amp; Skills
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering, Weld Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline plus 10 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Will consider a 2-year degree and 15 years of hands-on experience as well
 </li>
 <li>
 Previous experience with digital introduction on equipment for weld parameter tracking.
 </li>
 <li>
 Working knowledge of NDT inspection techniques, processes, and interpretation of results.
 </li>
 <li>
 Working knowledge of welding consumables and base material specifications
 </li>
 <li>
 Working knowledge and experience with welding processes such as (but not limited to) SAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in writing work instructions for production operations and rework procedures.
 </li>
 <li>
 Capable of working with current computer applications, CAD programs, and model manipulation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Understanding of equipment and technologies relevant to welding and manufacturing in a factory setting.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to solve complex technical problems that require a professional level of Weld Engineering, design, and engineering knowledge.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with Capital Project implementation of new equipment and/or factory setup.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent understanding of welding specifications such as AWS, ASME, or NAVSEA.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Baan or Oracle.
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 
 Preferred Education, Experience, &amp; Skills
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Master of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline.
 </li>
 <li>
 Certification with AWS as a CWI or other relevant certification.
 </li>
 <li>
 Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering or similar field and NDT Level II certification.
 </li>
 <li>
 Defense contractor experience.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prior experience with automation such as cobots or articulating robots.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with weld procedure and performance qualification to NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 or similar.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with requirements for fabrication, Welding, and Inspection of Submarine Structures NAVSEA T9074-AD-GIB-010/1688.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with NDT procedure qualification to T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 or similar.
 </li>

 Pay Information
 
 
 
 Full-Time Salary Range: $120874 - $205486
 
 
 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
