About the Unit:
The twenty-four-bed Neuroscience unit offers specialized nursing assessment and care to patients with both neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses. Typical patients include those with a diagnosis of stroke, post-op craniotomy, post-op discectomy and other back surgeries, as well as post-cerebral embolization. Unit nursing care is complemented by the expertise of two Neuroscience Coordinators. New Graduate Nurses are welcome.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse Neuro Spine to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients, in alignment with Kentucky Nursing Laws and our organizational policies. You will play a critical role in promoting positive patient outcomes, enhancing the quality of care, and contributing to a collaborative professional environment. Active participation in unit-based and hospital shared governance councils is expected to drive change and foster a supportive practice environment.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in nursing.
Active Kentucky RN License.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

About The Unit:
The Labor and Delivery unit is made up of 14 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, three operating rooms, and a four bed OB Emergency Department. The unit delivers approximately 3,000 babies each year. Nurses work with a variety of patients from natural childbirth to high-risk preterm multiple gestation pregnancies. Nursing staff roles include the labor nurses who support labor and delivery, and delivery team nurses caring for newborns during the immediate newborn period. The unit has 24/7 in-house anesthesia, neonatology, and OB hospitalist support.
Job Summary:
Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned to his/her care regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) and is responsible for the patient&rsquo;s care. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes and the delivery of quality patient care. The registered nurse collaborates with the inter-professional team to enhance patient outcomes. The registered nurse serves as a role model through actively participating in the process of continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
Requirements:

The Pulmonary Disease Respiratory Therapy Navigator provides clinical support, treatment access, education and coordination of patient-centered care to benefit the patient, family and multidisciplinary physicians while helping achieve optimal outcomes for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary (COPD) patients and their families. This position will serve as the navigator for the medical inpatients that have a diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and other pulmonary disease. The pulmonary disease educator is a respiratory therapist that assesses, treats, and monitors patients with respiratory diseases and conditions. As part of patient assessment and management, the therapist performs diagnostic test procedures. In addition, therapists assist in departmental operations by assisting with quality improvement projects and development of the pulmonary disease program. The pulmonary disease educator follows all applicable rules and regulations established by the licensure board depending on the state in which respiratory therapy is practiced.

Job Summary:
The Charge Nurse is an entry-level management position responsible for the coordination of care on designated shifts. He/she will provide leadership to the staff members of the unit in the area of patient care.
A) As a Registered nurse, he/she implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the patient&rsquo;s care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The charge nurse promotes positive patient outcomes; quality of care and initiates change through active involvement in unit-based and hospital shared-governance councils.
B) National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for the charge nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises appropriate nursing judgment. The charge nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Also, the charge nurse will serve as a role model by actively participating in the process of continuous professional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.

While cardiac surgery patients are the primary focus, the CVU team also cares for general ICU patients, complex cardiology patients, patients requiring cardiac devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps and Impellas, and patients requiring cooling after cardiac arrest. New Graduate RN's welcome!
