Responsibilities:
The Video Producer will support Barrow Wise's NSF project and perform the following duties:<ul><li>
Understand OLPA strategic communication objectives and conceive and recommend appropriate productions.</li><li>
Provide advice on effective media use for communicating messages to intended audiences.</li><li>
Produce &quot;NSF's Discovery Files Podcast,&quot; a weekly video and audio podcast.</li><li>
Ensure all products for internal and external use follow all NSF branding guidelines and are reviewed by the NSF branding team.
</li><li>Work with OLPA teams to plan and develop video programs by transforming communications campaigns/ideas and complex science into production ideas requiring the determination of format, approach, content, and level of presentation.</li><li>
Conduct research to identify potential sources for specific visuals, audio, and video clips, and determine their availability from outside sources.</li><li>
Coordinate with scientists, engineers, OLPA staff, and others to obtain needed materials and to coordinate various aspects of productions.</li><li>
Serve as a multimedia team representative on inter-team projects.</li><li>
Handle internal and external requests for information, footage, and finished products, including corresponding with requestors and providing files.</li><li>
Create and use spreadsheets to assist the team in tracking and filling requests.</li><li>
Perform archiving and other administrative, coordinating, and lower-level technical support duties.</li><li>
Use digital asset management systems to maintain and archive images/multimedia and permission documents.</li><li>
Provide scripting support to the OLPA, including writing treatments and full scripts.</li><li>
Conduct required background research and interviews to inform script development.</li><li>
Serve as lead writer on select projects while coordinating closely with OLPA and NSF staff.</li><li>
Collaborate with university researchers, public information officers, and other stakeholders as needed.</li><li>
Provide video editorial services using Adobe Premiere Pro nonlinear editing software.
</li><li>Write and edit articles, white papers, fact sheets, blogs, press releases, web pages, speeches, and other publications on science topics of stakeholder interest, including those addressing significant or potentially controversial topics.
</li><li>Translate complex scientific and technical concepts into plain language for non-expert audiences.
</li><li>Draft and edit web content summarizing policies and guidance for proposers and awardees.
</li><li>Conduct research and fact-checking, collaborating with OLPA staff, program officials, and scientists to ensure accuracy and clarity of all written products.
</li><li>Ensure all products comply with the &quot;Plain Writing Act of 2010&quot; and Section 508 accessibility standards.
</li></ul>An ideal candidate has the following:<ul><li>
U.S. Citizenship</li><li>
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a science-related field and ten years of experience</li><li>
Minimum 10 years of professional writing and editing experience, including at least 3 years' experience writing about scientific and technological subjects</li><li>
Experience in translating complex topics into compelling videos for a variety of audiences</li><li>
Experience in developing strategic marketing plans for video and multimedia projects, including broadcast and web-based media entities, partners, collaborators, distributors, and other organizations</li></ul>

Responsibilities:
The Graphic Designer will support Barrow Wise's NSF project and perform the following duties:<ul><li>
Create graphic design and layout for print and digital media.
</li><li>Create, design, and edit Microsoft PowerPoint presentations as needed.
</li><li>Create graphic design for print press kits and a variety of digital and print documents as needed.
</li><li>Illustrate and design infographics for press kits, press releases, media events, and/or any other press-related material.
</li><li>Create graphics for trade shows, event booths, conferences, exhibits, and media events.
</li><li>Create and design graphic materials for video production.
</li><li>Create animated content as needed for video production, web content, and social media.
</li><li>Create original illustrations in both traditional and digital formats (including 3-D) to provide a visual explanation and aid the viewer by clarifying complex descriptive information.
</li><li>Follow the Agency's branding guidelines and advise on its implementation.
</li><li>Establish and maintain the Agency's visual identity.
</li><li>Research subject matter for accuracy in illustrations, infographics, etc.
</li><li>Communicate with researchers to understand and interpret the subject matter.
</li><li>Ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and work collaboratively within a team as well as independently on assigned projects.
</li><li>Assure all content created meets current Section 508 accessibility requirements.
</li><li>Provide technical and/or artistic advice to staff about visual information.
</li><li>Participate in special projects and perform other creative and visually related duties as assigned.
</li><li>Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud</li></ul>
An ideal candidate has the following:<ul><li>
U.S. Citizenship</li><li>
Bachelor's Degree and five years of experience</li><li>
Experience with using Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products.</li><li>
Experience with 508 compliance.</li><li>
Provide 3-5 pieces of original work for review: 2-3 Posters - event, scientific, public outreach; 2-3 Flyers - one-pagers or fact sheets; and 2-3 Brochures - bi-fold, trifold or gatefold</li><li>
Preferred- demonstrated competency in mentoring junior designers.</li><li>
Expert level of experience with project / digital asset management software.</li><li>
Strong conceptual thinking.</li><li>
Ability to develop and incorporate cohesive design treatments to a suite of products.</li><li>
Preferred- knowledge of motion graphics and video editing software.</li></ul>
