POSITION: Electrical Engineer II
JOB PROFILE: 200046
REPORTS TO: Engineering Leader
DEPARTMENT : Electrical Engineering 
Alpine Laser, a division of Machine Solutions that specializes in precision laser processing workstations (such as the Medicut PRO Series) for medical device manufacturing. This includes laser tube cutting, micromachining, ablation, drilling, and related processes for components like stents, hypotubes, catheters, and other interventional devices.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Tests, troubleshoots, and supports electrical/electronic systems in precision laser processing equipment, including motion control, laser integration, optics, and related sub-systems. In this role, you will have a broad scope of responsibility encompassing the design, modification, and maintenance of complete electrical schematic packages for laser workstations using SolidWorks Electrical , including multi-page schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal plans, bill of materials, and associated documentation. Additional responsibilities include designing and building electrical test fixtures for laser systems, developing and executing test plans for laser performance and safety, writing test reports, and performing component-level troubleshooting on complex laser-enabled workstations. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Responsible for overseeing testing, coordination, and compilation of technical files and documentation required for CDRH/FDA submissions and CE marking, including laser safety, electrical safety, performance validation, and compliance certifications. Must be able to travel if there is a need but no more than 10%
</li><li>Demonstrates a deeper understanding of electrical/electronic systems, motion control platforms, laser power delivery, galvo/optics integration, and associated mechanical/pneumatic subsystems in precision laser workstations.
</li><li>Plays a key role in product validation for laser processing equipment, overseeing testing procedures (including beam quality, cut quality, repeatability, and safety), and communicating with external laboratories.
</li><li>Evaluates and implements improvements to laser processing methods, motion systems, and production processes.
</li><li>Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers
</li><li>May be responsible for leading small-to-medium-sized projects or initiatives related to laser workstation enhancements or new configurations.
</li><li>Investigates customer complaints related to laser system performance and executes resolutions to problems. 
</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Has 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering,
</li><li>Fluent in Solidworks Electrical , ideally with a experience in laser systems, precision motion control, optical/electrical integration, or related technologies in manufacturing equipment.

Develops, demonstrates, and optimizes laser processing applications for customer parts using Alpine Laser's precision multi-axis laser workstations.
In this role, you will have a broad scope of responsibility encompassing pre-sales application development - from interpreting customer PDF/DXF/3D files to generating CNC motion programs, manufacturing sample parts, inspecting/measuring results, writing application summary reports, and providing recommendations on tooling, workstation configuration, and process parameters. In addition, the ideal candidate would provide post-sales support, including on-site machine installations, customer training, and ongoing technical troubleshooting. You will manage and operate equipment in the Laser Applications Lab to support new product development, process validation, and customer demonstrations. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

<ul><li>Manages and operates equipment in the Laser Applications Lab, including ultrafast and fiber laser cutting systems, laser welding workstations, automated Keyence digital microscopes with 3D measurement software, post-processing equipment, and ultrasonic cleaning systems; supports new product development and process optimization.
</li><li>Uses customer PDF/DXF/3D files to generate optimized G-code-based motion programs using CAGILA CAM software for laser processing on multi-axis workstations.
</li><li>May design, fabricate, and test custom tooling and fixturing as needed to support customer applications.
</li><li>Generates comprehensive applications reports. Documents process parameters, inspects and measures processed parts (using microscopes and metrology tools), and makes recommendations for tooling, machine configuration, and process improvements.
</li><li>Carries out machine installations and on-site customer training throughout the US (primarily), Costa Rica, and Europe; serves as the primary point of contact for post-installation questions, operation guidance, and troubleshooting.
</li><li>Provides technical customer support via phone, email, and on-site visits as needed to resolve equipment or process issues.
</li><li>Evaluates and implements improvements to laser processing methods, motion programming, and application workflows.
