Your Role at Baxter
As the Associate Director, UCAN Medical Affairs, you will play a pivotal leadership role within Baxter&rsquo;s Healthcare Systems and Technologies (HST) Medical Affairs organization, supporting the United States and Canada. Reporting to a Senior Director, this role is responsible for shaping and delivering Medical Affairs strategy across the PSS and GSS portfolios while providing broader strategic support for Canada and the full HST portfolio.
You will lead and inspire a high-performing Field Medical team, ensuring best-in-class scientific engagement, evidence generation, and education that advance patient care and support Baxter&rsquo;s innovation pipeline. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence strategy at both regional and global levels while partnering cross-functionally across Medical Affairs, R&amp;D, and Commercial teams.<div></div>
What You&rsquo;ll Be Doing
Medical Affairs Leadership &amp; Strategy<ul><li>
Provide regional Medical Affairs leadership for new product development, ensuring scientific rigor and clinical relevance.</li><li>
Identify evidence-generation gaps and drive regional evidence strategies in collaboration with Global Business Unit (GBU) Medical Affairs teams.</li><li>
Develop and execute scientific communication and non-promotional education (NPE) plans aligned with product and portfolio strategy.</li><li>
Design, lead, and support advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, roundtables, and scientific forums.</li><li>
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to shape long-term Medical Affairs strategies, including comprehensive thought leader engagement plans.</li><li>
Represent Medical Affairs at regional, national, and international medical congresses, providing scientific support and translating emerging data into actionable insights.</li><li>
Monitor and communicate scientific trends, opportunities, and risks that may impact the business.</li><li>
Maintain strong alignment with Global Medical Affairs, ensuring collaboration across data generation, clinical trials, publications, advisory boards, CMEs, and literature strategy.</li><li>
Oversee Grants and Sponsorships, ensuring compliance, accurate documentation, and timely execution.</li><li>
Ensure strict adherence to all internal, legal, regulatory, and compliance standards.</li><li>
Provide Medical Affairs review and oversight of Investigator-Initiated Research (IIRs), including ongoing status accountability.</li><li>
Build and support a robust Non-Promotional Education (NPE) offering for the UCAN HST portfolio.</li><li>
Contribute to clinical and scientific training for sales teams and cross-functional Baxter partners.</li></ul><div></div>
Field Medical Affairs Leadership<ul><li>
Lead, coach, and develop the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team.</li><li>
Establish and execute strategies for:<ul><li>
Key Opinion Leader (KOL) identification, development, and engagement.</li><li>
External engagement metrics and performance excellence.</li><li>
Baxter-funded research (IIRs, BCS, BSS).</li><li>
Medical education initiatives and clinical programs.</li></ul></li></ul><div></div>
What You&rsquo;ll Bring<ul><li>
Advanced healthcare degree with 10+ years of clinical experience.</li><li>
Background in ICU, Med-Surg, or Clinical Informatics strongly preferred.</li><li>
Prior Medical Affairs experience highly desirable.</li><li>
Proven experience within the healthcare or life sciences industry.</li><li>
Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>
Clinical trial experience with a solid understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).</li><li>
Working knowledge of biostatistics and clinical trial design.</li><li>
Strong digital fluency, including advanced PowerPoint capabilities.</li><li>
Expertise in literature review, synthesis, and scientific analysis.</li><li>
Confidence and effectiveness in public speaking and scientific presentations.</li><li>
Ability to travel up to 50%.</li><li>
Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships and navigating clinical and regulatory environments.</li><li>
Ability to work independently while thriving in collaborative, cross-functional teams.</li></ul>
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $184,000.00 to $253,000.00 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location.

Your role at Baxter
</h1>The Position encompasses the biological, chemical and physical analyses on pharmaceutical products (biologics and drugs) through all stages of the manufacturing process from incoming raw materials to finished goods, and environmental monitoring programs.
Day shift: 6:00 AM &ndash; 6:30 PM on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule (including weekends).
A candidate must not be allergic to Penicillin and Cephalosporin or their related products and /or materials.<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
What you'll be doing
</h1><ul><li>Conduct critical chemical and physical analyses on Raw Materials, Initial, In-process and Final products, and samples collected from environmental monitoring programs at Baxter manufacturing facilities. Work under minimum supervision.</li><li>
Use sophisticated laboratory instrumentation (HPLC, FTIR, UV, GC etc) and computer systems to collect and record data.</li><li>
Perform advanced assays requiring precise analytical skills and understanding of biology and chemistry principles.</li><li>
Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company SOPs and specifications, FDA, GLP, QSR and cGMP regulations.</li><li>
Participate in functions involving teams, which impact production, increase efficiency, solve problems, generate cost savings and improve quality.</li><li>
Perform laboratory and manufacturing audits as required. Audit and update, as required, plant SOPs.</li><li>
Perform equipment maintenance and calibrations as required.</li><li>
Document the completion of testing in Notebooks, Controlled documents, Forms and LIMS and maintain accurate and complete quality records.</li><li>
Follow, understand and comply with Baxter SOP&rsquo;s and policies on cGMP&rsquo;s and safety. Maintain a clean, safe and organized lab area, and potentially assume responsibility to ensure that others maintain their lab areas.</li><li>
Investigate deviations and write exception/OOL/OOS/OOT documents.</li><li>
 Support improvement projects and drive efficiency through utilization of LEAN management principles (i/e/ 6S, Kaizens etc).</li><li>
 Proactively and cooperatively communicate with peers and management to ensure awareness of progress and issues; recommend solutions when issues arise.</li><li>
 Maintain and meet the highest standards in quality, customer service and regulatory compliance.</li><li>
 Other projects as assigned.</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
What you'll bring</h1><ul><li>
Bachelors degree in Chemistry or Science related degree with 6 months or more of experience</li><li>
Knowledge of Empower CDS and LIMS is preferred but not required</li><li>
Knowledge of GLP, cGMP requirements and familiar with USP/ICH guidelines is preferred but not required</li><li>
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills</li><li>
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude in a highly dynamic environment</li><li>
Ability to lift up to 50 pound when required</li><li>
Rotating weekend work required</li><li>
Visual acuity 20/20 Near Vision with or without corrective vision required.</li><li>
Must not be color blind</li></ul>

The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long-term incentive.
