Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.<ul><li>Drafts complaints and indictments;</li><li>Screens cases submitted by law enforcement, evaluates and reviews evidence, reports, and recordings; determines appropriate criminal charges; advises law enforcement and investigators when further investigation is needed;</li><li>Represents the State in District Court for hearings and trials; determines appropriate sentence recommendations;</li><li>Reads and researches case law;</li><li>Complies with discovery requirements;</li><li>Handles assigned cases through disposition, with the support of a separate appellate division;</li><li>Represents the State in probation revocation hearings;</li><li>Performs related work as required.</li></ul>Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Requires graduation from an accredited Law School and admitted to the practice of law in the State of Texas supplemented by two (2) years of litigation experience.Physical Demands:<ul><li>Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.</li></ul>Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment):<ul><li>None.</li></ul>Special Certifications and Licenses:<ul><li>Must possess and maintain a valid state driver&rsquo;s license with an acceptable driving history.</li><li>Requires license to practice law in the State of Texas.</li></ul>BELL COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY&rsquo;S OFFICEWe are looking for felony prosecutors with experience to fill our Felony Trial Division Chief Position. Prosecutors in our office are responsible for intake evaluation, grand jury preparation, and prosecution through trial of assigned cases. We are looking for trial attorneys that can manage a case load while supervising the attorneys assigned to a Criminal District Court.Our office provides the resources for you to succeed, with benefits including your yearly CLE, state bar dues and membership to both TDCAA and NDAA.We prefer a prosecutor with felony trial experience and the ability to manage. Like all offices, you need to be licensed by the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.Bell County is a growing county, located an hour north of Austin on the I35 corridor, with two beautiful lakes, good school districts, and big city amenities with a small-town feel.
