Small law office has an opening for an entry-level Legal Assistant for a 90 day internship / probationary period. We specialize in Trust and Estates law, including estate planning, probate and trust administration and need daily administrative support Monday to Friday during business hours. 5-10 hrs per week to start. No nights, weekends, or overtime required.We are looking for a self motivated Administrative Assistant to provide administrative, expense entry and electronic file maintenance support to the law firm. The ideal candidate will have graduated from college and have prior office experience.Candidates that demonstrate integrity, practical/common sense and strong interpersonal, organizational, speaking and writing skills will have growth potential to receive further substantive training for a paralegal position (if desired).Responsibilities<ul><li>Open new matters</li><li>Bookkeeping expense entry</li><li>Electronic file records maintenance / organization for accounting, new prospects and client matters</li><li>Send appointment requests and update firm's calendar and contacts, as requested by attorney</li><li>Communicate/Follow up with clients to gather signatures, documents and information, as requested by attorney</li><li>Draft retainer agreements, basic legal documents and correspondence</li><li>E-file and electronically or mail serve legal documents</li></ul>Required Skills<ul><li>Proven work experience with a single employer for at least 1 year</li><li>Working knowledge using Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts) and Adobe Acrobat. Computer literacy required.</li><li>Willingness to learn how to use various software programs for bookkeeping, data entry for legal documents, e-filing, postage. Prior law firm experience is a plus.</li><li>Interest in learning and applying legal procedures, office protocols, and court filing systems</li><li>Proficiency in English - spoken and written</li></ul>For consideration, please apply by sending your resume, with a cover letter confirming your understanding that this is a 90-day internship.
