Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources Generalist, who is driven, passionate, and ready to roll up their sleeves, to join our business facing, customer service oriented, Boston based HR Team. As part of the North America HR Team, this role will be responsible for managing multiple areas of Human Resources support and administration, inclusive of the teammate onboarding experience, full management of the teammate life cycle, payroll and benefits support, and talent acquisition administrative support. You will play a key role in ensuring the seamless execution of HR processes, delivering a high-touch, positive experience for candidate and teammates, and will be the first point of call for all teammate inquiries, with a high degree of customer care, escalating issues as they arise.
The ideal candidate is initiative-taking, highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting people and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Duties &amp; Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Responsible for delivering dynamic new hire onboarding experience and facilitating weekly New Hire orientation focused on BHSI culture &amp; values<ul><li>
Support and management of the full teammate life cycle, offer to acceptance, new hire onboarding, teammate changes, promotions and compensation adjustments, organizational updates, and off-boarding:</li><li>
Creation &amp; delivery offer letters, initiating, and monitoring background checks, sharing onboarding information with managers and new joiners, and overseeing employment documentation verification (I9/E-Verify).</li><li>
Coordinating and processing all teammate changes inclusive of promotional and compensation adjustments and other general organizational updates</li><li>
Developing exit guides, notification of teammate departures and final pay determination and appropriate recording keeping</li></ul></li><li>
Coordinate all aspects of our Benefits program for our North American teammates, gaining expert knowledge of our benefits, including:<ul><li>
Help manage benefits changes for teammates</li><li>
Understand, answer, and help manage teammate questions and concerns with benefits questions related to health, dental, disability, life, and AD&amp;D &amp; 401K coverages</li><li>
Act as a liaison between teammates and benefit carriers: help resolve issues, get coverage clarification and act as an escalation point</li><li>
Benefit support inclusive of leave management, accommodations, and open enrollment</li></ul></li><li>
Ensure data accuracy across HR systems through close partnership with Payroll and HR Operations.</li><li>
Coordinate and monitor quarterly payroll reporting needs, including PTO usage, overtime, and other ad hoc reports.</li><li>
Coordinate approvals and process tuition reimbursement requests under our tuition reimbursement program</li><li>
Ensure company compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements in the U.S.</li><li>
Focus on operational excellence, gaining efficiencies, and process improvement</li><li>
Ownership of team collateral: including our HR Team page on the company intranet, teammate and manager guides, HR templates, orientation programming and accompaniments</li><li>
Opportunities to work on regional and global projects as needed to support the larger Human Resources People Agenda</li></ul> 
 Qualifications, Skills and Experience:<ul><li>
At least 7 years of progressive, well rounded Human Resources Generalist experience across all disciplines</li><li>
Hands-on benefits experience, coupled with administering and managing company paid and state funded leaves, a plus</li><li>
Property &amp; Casualty insurance experience a plus</li><li>
Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other HRIS systems</li><li>
Advanced proficiency in Excel - experience and comfort creating and maintaining spreadsheets</li><li>
Excellent administrative and organizational skills, detail oriented and excellence focused</li><li>
Advanced communication skills including presentation &amp; training facilitation experience</li><li>
Confidence, professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment</li><li>

Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a well-rounded risk control professional to support our growing and diverse Construction Casualty business, including Construction Projects, Contracting Practice, Professional, and Pollution, concentrating on General Liability, Auto Liability and Excess/Umbrella policies. Other lines of business such as Products, Energy, Manufacturing, and Transportation accounts are also supported. The position reports directly to the VP Casualty Risk Control, however all Risk Engineers at BHSI are fully integrated with the Underwriting Team(s). In support of our North American region, the following BHSI office locations will be considered: Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle. 
Duties &amp; Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Evaluate complex technical risks and exposures that could impact a wide book of business</li><li>
Create content and other resources to address emerging and changing issues</li><li>
Support the underwriting process through individual risk assessments and technical research</li><li>
Lead customer visits for the purposes of improving our knowledge of the risk</li><li>
Participate in customer and broker meetings to strengthen our relationships and deliver our value add proposition</li><li>
Support other lines of business as needed.</li></ul> 
 Qualifications, Skills and Experience:<ul><li>
8+ years of strong experience working in safety engineering, risk management and/or loss control disciplines</li><li>
Advanced knowledge of exposures and controls in casualty lines of business with a strong technical background in the construction industry. Experience in other industries including energy, products, and transportation lines is a plus</li><li>
High aptitude for technical writing and verbal communication, including presentation experience</li><li>
Have a strong desire to build something that adds long-term value to a forever business</li><li>
Be confident that you will thrive in a rapidly growing, dynamic environment with limited direction</li><li>

The base salary range for this position in locations listed above is $130,000 - $175,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
