The Marketing &amp; Communications Specialist 
 
SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Marketing &amp; Communications Specialist plays a key role in advancing BestSelf's mission by supporting marketing, public relations, and internal communication initiatives. This entry-level role is designed for a motivated, detail-oriented professional who is eager to grow into a career in public relations and communications. The Marketing &amp; Communications Specialist will manage projects independently while collaborating closely with internal teams and external vendors. Responsibilities span public relations, marketing campaigns, internal communications, event logistics, and essential operational support.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and other written materials.</li>
<li>Support press conferences and agency events, including logistics, internal coordination, and preparation of materials.</li>
<li>Assist with media outreach, interview scheduling, and coverage tracking.</li>
<li>Explore and apply AI tools to support writing, research, and campaign efficiency.</li>
<li>Serve as the first point of contact for internal teams requesting marketing or communications support.</li>
<li>Assist with intake meetings, develop input briefs, and help build marketing and communication plans.</li>
<li>Support campaign execution by coordinating deliverables with the marketing and communications team, ensuring consistency with brand standards.</li>
<li>As needed, provide logistics and communications support for press conferences, community-facing events, and other agency-or vendor-led initiatives.</li>
<li>Coordinate details such as scheduling, vendor communication, collateral, SWAG, and internal department support.</li>
<li>Manage committee logistics such as rosters, scheduling, agenda preparation, and follow-up.</li>
<li>Manage sponsorship requests and database. Coordinate the deliverables for approved sponsorships.
</li><li>Support internal communication initiatives, including agency-wide updates, newsletters, campaigns, and recognition efforts.</li>
<li>Assist with meeting logistics, scheduling, calendar management, and preparation of reports or presentations.</li>
<li>Manage ordering, inventory, and distribution of marketing materials and promotional items (SWAG), including vendor coordination, deliveries, and pick-ups.</li>
<li>Support the Content Manager with social media and digital content scheduling as needed.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Completes all trainings required by the agency.</li><li>
Performs all other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

QUALIFICATIONS
<ul><li>
1-3 years of experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or related roles.</li><li>
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience or internships are considered.</li><li>
Excellent communication skills using all methods.</li><li>
Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines.</li><li>
Ability to manage projects independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and vendors.</li><li>
Familiarity with digital marketing platforms, project management systems, and AI-assisted content creation tools preferred.</li><li>
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds when handling materials and related tasks.</li><li>
Occasional travel may be necessary for events and to agency locations.
