This pivotal role drives the unification of data governance, reporting, and field digitalisation across Better Cotton&rsquo;s global network. You&rsquo;ll bridge upstream data capture with downstream data use, enabling evidence-based decision-making, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening trust across our partners and stakeholders.

As Senior Manager, Data and Digitalisation, you&rsquo;ll play a central role in enabling these ambitions through digital innovation and robust data systems. 
Areas that play to your strengths 
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on leader to drive excellence in data governance, field digitalisation, and analytics. In this role, you will:<ul><li>
Set and deliver the digital vision &ndash; Define a clear strategy that aligns data governance, field digitalisation, and reporting with Better Cotton&rsquo;s organisational priorities and sustainability goals.</li><li>
Lead data governance frameworks &ndash; Ensure data integrity, comparability, and compliance across multiple systems and countries, embedding strong standards and clear accountability.</li><li>
Oversee data architecture and integration &ndash; Build seamless data pipelines connecting field-level data capture with downstream systems such as MEL, Traceability, and Salesforce, ensuring information is reliable, timely, and actionable.</li><li>
Drive field digitalisation &ndash; Lead the rollout and adoption of digital tools used by partners and producer units, ensuring usability, local ownership, and continuous improvement based on feedback and analytics.</li><li>
Develop data-driven insights &ndash; Guide the creation of dashboards, visualisations, and analytics that support decision-making across programmes, operations, and impact reporting.</li><li>
Champion innovation and efficiency &ndash; Pilot and scale new technologies such as mobile apps, GIS tools, and digital dashboards to streamline processes and strengthen the evidence base for sustainability.</li><li>
Lead and inspire a global team &ndash; Manage, mentor, and grow two cross-regional teams (Data Services and Field Digitalisation), fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.</li><li>
Collaborate across the organisation &ndash; Partner with functions such as MEL, IT, Traceability, and Programme Delivery to ensure Better Cotton&rsquo;s digital and data infrastructure supports every stage of the cotton value chain.</li><li>
Ensure impact through continuous improvement &ndash; Establish and track KPIs related to data quality, tool adoption, and user satisfaction, using them to drive performance and inform future priorities.</li></ul> 
We are looking for someone who has 
Essential<ul><li>
Degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Digital Transformation, or related field, or equivalent experience.</li><li>
At least 12&ndash;15 years&rsquo; experience in data governance, digital product implementation, or field digitalisation, ideally in international or mission-driven organisations.</li><li>
Proven track record leading digital transformation initiatives and data system implementation.</li><li>
Demonstrated leadership of multi-country teams and vendor management.</li><li>
Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.</li></ul>
Desirable<ul><li>
Certifications in Data Governance (DCAM), Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2), or Digital Product Management.</li><li>
Experience with tools such as myBetterData, Salesforce, and Power BI.</li><li>
Exposure to agricultural, sustainability, or non-profit sectors.</li><li>
Experience working in multicultural, decentralised environments.</li><li>
Proficiency in digital innovation such as GIS, mobile apps, or data visualisation.</li></ul>

Working arrangements

Description

Better Cotton is the world&rsquo;s leading sustainability initiative for cotton. Our mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment. With the support of our stakeholders, we can focus on who and what matter in a sustainable future: farmers, farmworkers, their communities, and their education, knowledge and well-being. Working with close to 70 different field-level partners, we continue to reach more and more of the world&rsquo;s cotton-farming communities. Nearly all of them &ndash; farmers and farm workers &ndash; work on smallholdings less than 20 hectares in size. Helping them to enjoy better yields, improved working conditions and greater financial security has been transformative. Over 2.4 million farmers in 26 countries now have a licence to sell their cotton as Better Cotton. In total, our programmes have reached almost 4 million people whose working lives are connected to cotton production. More than a fifth of the world&rsquo;s cotton is now grown under the Better Cotton Standard. We have united the industry&rsquo;s stakeholders behind our efforts, and by 2030 our aim is to have trained 5 million farmers and doubled global production of Better Cotton.

Better Cotton&rsquo;s Traceability team is looking for individuals &ndash; First Mile Traceability Assistant to support the First Mile Traceability team in various activities not limited to Better Cotton farmer data verification, research and surveys, trainings &amp; outreach and monitoring &amp; evaluation of First Mile Traceability projects(s). The assistants will work closely with the Better Cotton Supply Chain Team at Better Cotton Lahore office. The assistant will report to Senior Coordinator First Mile Traceability, Pakistan. This work entails intense training with a very steep but exciting learning curve in the initial weeks. Successful candidates will have range of skills and interests including attention to detail, excellent phone manner and the ability to capture high quality information in an efficient and timely manner. We will review applications to vet prospective suppliers and personal data will be stored in accordance with GDPR regulations.

Responsibilities

The FMT Assistant is expected to perform following tasks but not limited to:

<li>Better Cotton Farmers data review, verification &amp; cleansing.
</li>
<li>Managing database of First Mile Traceability Stakeholders.
</li>
<li>Provide support to Senior Coordinator First Mile Traceability in
</li>
<ul><li>Execution of surveys and feedback.
</li>
<li>Developing training &amp; IEC material.
</li>
<li>Conducting training and outreach activities.
</li>
<li>Digital traceability tool rollout.
</li>
<li>Development of monitoring and evaluation tools.
</li>
<li>Monitoring and evaluation of the pilot.
</li>
</ul><li>Verify cotton sales transactions with farmers by following established scripts and protocols.
</li>
<li>Collect and accurately record critical data points from farmers during the verification calls, such as sale quantity, date, and seller details (farmer confirmation).
</li>
<li>Maintain clear and concise call logs documenting each interaction with a farmer.
</li>
<li>Escalate any issues or concerns arising during calls to the designated supervisor.
</li>
<li>Adhere to all data privacy and confidentiality regulations.
</li>
<li>Collaborate with SC Team on data insights and cross functional sharing.
</li>
</ul>Profile and qualifications

The candidates should have following knowledge, skills and experience:
<ul>
<li>University degree, or equivalent higher education qualification, in a relevant field.
</li>
<li>Language proficiency in Urdu, English and regional language (Saraiki) is a must.
</li>
<li>Previous similar work experience / familiarity, with agriculture, small holder farming sector is desirable.
</li>
<li>High levels of ethics and the ability to handle confidential data (e.g. personal data) with sensitivity and security
</li>
<li>To succeed the candidate must have excellent communication skills, organised and proficient in using MS Office, etc. Skills in Excel are highly appreciated
</li>
<li>Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
</li>
<li>Good and versatile communication skills.
</li>
<li>Team player, and service oriented.
</li>
</ul>Additional information
<ul>
<li>The assignment will start with an intensive induction, and training will be provided for necessary systems, processes, and reporting.
</li>
<li>Interested candidates must be legally permitted to work in Pakistan.
</li>
<li>Successful candidates will be treated as Individual Consultants and will not be entitled to any employee benefits provided to Better Cotton employees such as yearly bonuses, gratuity, health insurance, Outpatient medical benefits etc.

<li>The position is part time (30 hrs per week) with 2 days off per week. The roster will be finalized post hiring.

<li>The assistants to be based in Lahore, Pakistan and will require to travel to field locations time to time.
