Field Archaeologist - Project Based (Temp/Part-Time)</b></p>

-TEMPORARY/PART-TIME PROJECT BASED AS NEEDED ROLE-</p>

Location: - Texas/Oklahoma Regions</b></p>
<h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Job Responsibilities</b></h2>
<ul><li>Conduct phase one archaeological surveys including pedestrian surveys and shovel testing to identify presence or absence of cultural resources.</li>
<li>Assist with excavation and trenching activities as needed, primarily in Texas and surrounding regions (Possibly Oklahoma)</li>
<li>Collect and document field data using tablets, GPS devices, and maintain detailed photo logs.</li>
<li>Support preparation of reports, background research, and site documentation for archaeological projects.</li>
<li>Collaborate with project leads and team members to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Participate in fieldwork under the guidance of experienced crew chiefs, with opportunities for mentorship and skill development.</li>
<li>Communicate findings and technical information clearly to project managers and team members.</li>
<li>Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry; GIS experience is a plus.</li>
<li>Adhere to safety protocols and carry out fieldwork in various weather conditions, often requiring travel within North Texas and occasionally to other states.</li>
</ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Job Requirements</b></h2>
<ul><li>Career focus on cultural resources fieldwork in archaeological surveys or related environmental studies.</li>
<li><b>Bachelor's </b><b>degree in anthropology or archaeology</b> upperclassmen nearing graduation with relevant field school experience will also be considered.</li>
<li>Solid organizational skills and proficiency in technical data entry and report documentation.</li>
<li>Effective time-management, written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Professional presence with the ability to make sound decisions in field and office settings.</li>
<li>Ability to work effectively in team environments and establish strong working relationships across project teams.</li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using tablets and GPS technology for field data collection; GIS experience is a plus.</li>
<li>Must be able to conduct fieldwork in various weather conditions and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.</li>
<li>Knowledge of archaeological field methods such as pedestrian survey, shovel testing, and trenching preferred.</li>
<li>Willingness to travel locally within North Texas and occasionally to other project sites in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Kansas.</li>
<li>Ability to record field data accurately with minimal assistance from other employees and use time management effectively;</li>
<li>Ability to travel and perform daily fieldwork for extended periods (crews typically work 10-hour days during field efforts, except for travel days);</li>
<li>Ability to conduct fieldwork in various weather conditions (including cold, heat, humidity, light rain or snow)</li>
<li>Ability to navigate rugged terrain and perform shovel tests at set intervals up to 10 miles per day while carrying field equipment weighing up to 40 lbs</li>
<li>CPR, First Aid, and Wilderness First Aid certifications are preferred</li>
<li>A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation are required</li>
<li><b>Passing a drug screening test and driver record check is mandatory upon acceptance of an offer.</b></li></ul><p></p><div><p><br>
