We operate a diverse fleet of sightseeing vehicles throughout Los Angeles, including double-decker buses, Mercedes Sprinter vans, and Ford F-550 vehicles.We are seeking motivated and experienced Level I, II, and III Diesel Mechanics to join our growing engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a unique fleet while developing your skills in diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and vehicle repair.Weekend availability is required.Essential Duties &amp; ResponsibilitiesPreventive Maintenance<ul><li>Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services</li><li>Conduct lubrication, fluid changes, and filter replacements</li><li>Complete maintenance records and repair documentation accurately</li></ul>DOT Inspections<ul><li>Perform and document 45-Day DOT inspections</li><li>Ensure fleet compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company standards</li><li>Identify and correct safety-related defects</li></ul>Diagnostics &amp; Troubleshooting<ul><li>Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic issues</li><li>Utilize diagnostic software, scan tools, and schematics</li><li>Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, HVAC, and electrical systems</li></ul>Repair &amp; Component Replacement<ul><li>Repair and replace:</li><li>Diesel engines</li><li>Automatic transmissions</li><li>Air brake systems</li><li>Steering and suspension components</li><li>Cooling systems</li><li>Hoses and belts</li><li>Air conditioning and HVAC systems</li><li>Electrical wiring and electronic control systems</li><li>Charging and starting systems</li></ul>Safety &amp; Compliance<ul><li>Maintain a safe and organized work environment</li><li>Follow OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company safety standards</li><li>Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials</li></ul>Road Calls<ul><li>Respond to road service calls as needed</li><li>Diagnose and repair vehicles in the field</li><li>Coordinate vehicle recovery when required</li></ul>Shop Operations<ul><li>Maintain tools and equipment</li><li>Assist with parts inventory and tracking</li><li>Support team members and cross-train as needed</li></ul>Knowledge &amp; Skills<ul><li>Ability to read and speak English</li><li>Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment</li><li>Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical schematics</li><li>Understanding of electrical circuits</li><li>Knowledge of air and hydraulic brake systems, including troubleshooting and repair</li><li>Knowledge of suspension and steering systems, including troubleshooting and repair</li><li>Computer skills for basic data entry into databases</li><li>Ability to use computers and diagnostic tools to diagnose vehicle systems</li><li>Strong understanding and ability to use hand and power tools</li><li>Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve with patience and attention to detail</li><li>Strong analytical, electronic, and mathematical skills</li></ul>Working ConditionsEnvironmental Considerations<ul><li>Exposure to constant or intermittent noise levels that may cause fatigue or potential hearing loss</li><li>Exposure to high and low temperatures that may cause significant body discomfort</li><li>Exposure to dust, fumes, vapors, and mists that could affect occupational health</li></ul>Physical Considerations<ul><li>Exposure to whole-body vibrations during the work shift</li><li>Work performed inside various types of vehicles and equipment during repairs</li><li>Occasional exposure to hazardous equipment, situations, and conditions</li><li>Work performed in various lighting conditions ranging from dim to bright</li><li>Ability to stand for extended periods or work in awkward positions when repairing equipment</li><li>Occasional climbing to reach elevated parts of vehicles or equipment</li><li>Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 80 lbs</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent required</li><li>Minimum of 1-5+ years of experience as a heavy diesel mechanic/technician, preferably with experience working on buses</li><li>Trade school, ASE certification, mechanical training, or equivalent experience is highly preferred</li><li>Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required</li><li>D.O.T. inspection experience required</li><li>Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required</li><li>CDL preferred but not required</li><li>Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends</li></ul>Minimum Requirements<ul><li>1+ year of hands-on diesel mechanic experience</li><li>Valid Driver's License with clean driving history</li><li>Ability to pass pre-employment screening</li><li>Ability to work weekends and flexible schedules</li><li>Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred for Level II and III positions</li><li>ASE Certifications</li><li>Experience working on heavy-duty diesel vehicles</li><li>Experience with electrical diagnostics and multiplex systems</li><li>Air brake certification or equivalent experience</li></ul>Compensation: $28.00 &ndash; $38.00 per hour depending on experience.Schedule: Full-time position with weekend availability required.
