is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to play a pivotal role in our financial operations. As we transition our accounting functions in-house, you will be the engine behind our daily financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency. This is a high-impact opportunity for a professional who enjoys being &quot;in the weeds&quot; of the general ledger while helping build the systems and safeguards that will support our continued growth in the life sciences sector. 
Key Responsibilities 
<ul>
<li>
Core Accounting: Execute day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger maintenance, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and payroll processing.</li>
<li>Month-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.</li>
<li>Tax Support: Assist in the preparation of corporate and partnership tax filings; help track and apply federal, state, and local tax requirements.</li>
<li>Financial Reporting: Prepare preliminary financial statements and budget-to-actual variance reports for review by leadership.</li>
<li>Process Improvement: Assist in documenting and implementing internal controls and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as operations move in-house.</li>
<li>Cash Management: Monitor daily cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.</li>
<li>Compliance &amp; Audit: Prepare workpapers for external auditors and tax advisors; maintain organized digital records for all financial transactions.</li>
<li>Data Analysis: Use Excel and ERP tools to identify trends and provide insights that support departmental decision-making.</li></ul> 


What We&rsquo;re Looking For: 
Required:
<ul>
<li>Education: Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting or Finance.</li>
<li>Experience: 3&ndash;5 years of progressive accounting experience (Public accounting or corporate experience both welcomed).</li>
<li>Technical Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of GAAP.</li>
<li>Systems: Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Sage) and Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).</li>
<li>Mindset: A &quot;builder&quot; mentality&mdash;comfortable navigating the ambiguity of moving functions from an external firm to an internal department.</li></ul> 


Preferred:
<ul>
<li>Certification: CPA candidate or active CPA.</li>
<li>Industry: Experience in staffing, professional services, or life sciences.</li>
<li>Tax Exposure: Familiarity with multi-state sales/service tax and partnership structures.</li>
<li>Payroll: Experience working with payroll funding or factoring partners.</li></ul>
