Your Role...
 
By exhibiting exceptional teamwork, boundless curiosity, and the utmost care, the Assistant Manager will lead their team to fulfill Blick’s commitment to our customers, the Arts, and our local communities. Responsibilities include,
 <ul>
<li>Direct and oversee the overall operations of the retail location.</li>
<li>Increase sales volume, upholding customer service values, develop and maintain customer and school relationships, maintain proper stock levels, maintain inventory replenishment orders, special orders, and factory direct drop shipping orders.</li>
<li>Assists the Store General Manager with the House Account Program including, but not limited to, processing House Account orders, contacting Account customers, and maintaining customer relationships.</li>
<li>Provide customer service at the Custom Services desk including making appointments for customers, consulting with customers on their Custom Services project, taking</li>
<li>Custom Services orders, and delivering completed Custom Services orders in store.</li>
<li>Assist the local or remote Custom Services production team (Framers) by analyzing/maintaining the Work in Progress report, ordering framing supplies, communicating with the production facility in Galesburg, light production responsibilities as needed.</li>
<li>Oversee all aspects of inventory such as: Vendor Direct and Special Orders, Min/Max Changes, Inventory Adjustments, Weekly Cycle Counts, Store Transfers, RTVs, and shipment processing.</li>
<li>Maintain company POGs, display and signage compliance, cleanliness standards, and supply orders.</li>
<li>Pre-Inventory coordination of store including creation of store map, section labeling, pre-count assignments, product bundling, labeling all non-scan product, staff assignments for inventory, completion and transmission of all post inventory count forms.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance to all Loss Prevention and Safety measures, Dick Blick Company Policies and Procedures, and operational controls.</li>
<li>Shift supervision, including opening and closing the store, managing payroll, creating weekly schedule, staff tasks and duties assigned daily.</li>
<li>Interview candidates for open non-exempt associate positions.</li>
<li>Solve associate issues in partnership with other members of management.</li>
<li>Execute the training of all store associates on Blick Onboarding Training, Sales Training Program, promotional events, and Featured Products, and Custom Services training from NDS.</li>
<li>Communicate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals for all associates.</li>
<li>Coordinate marketing programs at store level along with ensuring compliance to National Marketing programs.</li>
<li>Understand and manage the financial well-being of the store using the annual budget and monthly Profit & Loss reports.</li>
<li>Oversee ordering of store supplies through retail purchasing and monitor expenses.</li>
</ul>

Scheduling Requirements: 
<ul>
<li>Is willing and able to work a minimum of two nights per work week. Must close Friday and Saturday a minimum of one weekend per accounting period, minimum of one Sunday per accounting period.</li>
<li>Availability to work flexible schedules including day/evening shifts, weekends and holidays as required by the needs of the business.</li>
<li>Regular attendance in accordance with the attendance policy.</li>
<li>Associates in this role are scheduled an average of 15- 25 hours per week based on availability and the needs of the business</li>

Supervisory Responsibility:

Physical Demands: 
<ul>
<li>Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds while using the appropriate lifting techniques and following all safety rules.</li>
<li>Prolonged walking, standing, and climbing ladders.</li>

Travel: 
<ul>
<li>Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma, College preferred but not required.</li>
<li>One year of previous retail management experience or one year of employment with Blick.</li>
<li>Demonstrated superior sales performance throughout career.</li>
<li>Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.</li>

Part Time Retail Store Assistant Manager

 Primary Tasks: The Retail Human Resources Advisor partners with retail field leadership across four districts to deliver practical, business-focused human resources support. This role acts as a trusted advisor to District Managers and Store General Managers, helping drive performance, strengthen employee engagement, and ensure consistent execution of HR programs, policies, and compliance across the organization.
 The Retail Human Resources Advisor balances strategic partnership with hands-on execution, serving as the primary HR resource for day-to-day employee relations, talent management, and operational HR needs within the assigned regions.
 
Responsibilities: 
Field Partnership & Business Support
 <ul>
<li>Partner with District Managers to support stores across four districts, aligning HR strategies with business objectives</li>
<li>Provide coaching and guidance to Store General Managers on performance management, employee engagement, and team effectiveness</li>
<li>Travels to store locations to build relationships with teams, assess situations and/or provide in-person support as able and needed</li>
<li>Participate in district/regional calls and business reviews to identify people-related risks and opportunities</li>
</ul>
Employee Relations
 <ul>
<li>Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action</li>
<li>Conduct thorough, timely, and objective investigations; provide recommendations aligned with company policy and legal requirements</li>
<li>Coach leaders on consistent and appropriate application of policies and documentation</li>
</ul>
Performance Management
 <ul>
<li>Support leaders in diagnosing performance issues and driving accountability through clear expectations and action plans</li>
<li>Partner on progressive discipline, terminations, and complex performance situations</li>
<li>Contribute to performance review cycles, ensuring consistency and quality across districts</li>
</ul>
Talent & Workforce Planning
 <ul>
<li>Partner with field leadership on hiring strategies, workforce planning, and succession planning</li>
<li>Identify talent gaps and support development plans for key roles</li>
<li>Collaborate with recruiting to improve candidate quality and hiring outcomes</li>
</ul>
Training & Development
 <ul>
<li>Support the rollout and reinforcement of training programs for Store General</li>
<li>Managers and District Managers</li>
<li>Coach leaders on core management skills including feedback, coaching, and team development</li>
<li>Identify training needs based on trends in performance and employee relations</li>
</ul>
Compliance & Policy Execution
 <ul>
<li>Ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment laws across all locations</li>
<li>Monitor compliance trends and proactively address risks</li>
<li>Partner with HR and Legal teams on policy interpretation and updates</li>
</ul>
HR Operations & Projects
 <ul>
<li>Support implementation of HR initiatives, programs, and systems (e.g., performance management, engagement surveys, HRIS updates)</li>
<li>Analyze HR metrics (turnover, engagement, retention, etc.) to inform action plans</li>
<li>Contribute to cross-functional HR projects and continuous improvement efforts</li>
</ul>
Education
 <ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.</li>
</ul>
Job Requirements
 <ul>
<li>5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a multi-unit retail or field environment</li>
<li>Strong employee relations experience, including investigations and performance management</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders at multiple levels</li>
</ul>
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws: Knowledge of employment laws relating to staffing and recruiting, compensation, organizational planning, organizational development, employee relations, safety training, and preventative labor relations
 <ul>
<li>Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Dayforce or similar) and applicant tracking systems preferred</li>
<li>Bilingual preferred</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others</li>
<li>Enthusiastic, energetic, approachable, and personable</li>
<li>Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills: Ability to set priorities and organize time: Demonstrates initiative and can work independently</li>
<li>Strong computer skills to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint</li>
<li>Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively and discreetly deal with sensitive issues</li>
<li>Must be willing to travel 50% or more</li>

Pay Rate:
