<div><p>The Planner, Senior administers the subdivision regulations, and other miscellaneous projects. Additionally, the incumbent provides detailed information and advice to developers and the public on procedures and requirements of subdivision regulations and platting process, planning region jurisdictions, utility jurisdictions, flood hazard map locations, and other land development related regulations. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p>
<ul><li>
Provides detailed information and advice to developers and public regarding procedures and requirements of subdivision regulations and platting process, planning region jurisdictions, utility jurisdictions, flood hazard map locations, and other land development related regulations;</li><li>
Provides general planning information to the public upon request;</li><li>
Reviews subdivision plats for conformance with requirements of format, content and design in the subdivision regulations, and performs field review of proposed subdivision developments;</li><li>
Coordinates field review of plats, provides information, recommends actions, and coordinates specific tasks in conjunction with employees in other departments as well as officials and department heads;</li><li>
Provides staff support to Planning Commission on subdivision regulation matters by staff analysis and reports on subdivision related agenda items, and the presentation of reports;</li><li>
Manages or administers grant funds;</li><li>
Maintains subdivision regulations through periodic review and amendment;</li><li>
Researches professional literature on planning related issues and writes staff reports, and presents staff reports at public meetings;</li><li>
Assists in facilitating general planning, including public meetings and citizen input;</li><li>
Assists in data collation and analysis, including data entry on computer;</li><li>
Substitutes for Director in meetings in the absence of the Director;</li><li>
Writes grants, and assists in the development of special projects or programs;</li><li>
Performs shared office filing, copying, and necessary administrative paperwork;</li><li>
Performs other assigned duties.</li></ul>

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:</div>
<ul><li>
Possess proficient knowledge of departmental practices, systems, policies and procedures;</li><li>
Skillfully use computers for data entry, word processing, small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems, and computers for word processing, data entry, and accounting purposes;</li><li>
Skillfully utilize highly technical computer applications, such as GIS and/or CAD;</li><li>
Organize and communicate effectively;</li><li>
Routinely use analytical skills to work independently and/or within team projects;</li><li>
Propensity to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs;</li><li>
Continuously maintain tactful and professional conversations with others; including, while being confronted with controversial situations; and</li><li>
Bolster and sustain a positive, professional demeanor with citizens, colleagues, elected officials, and other agencies.</li></ul><br>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK</b></div>
<ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s Degree;</li><li>
Five (5) years of experience;</li><li>
Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and</li><li>
Valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul><br>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS</b></div>

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. The position requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity.</div><br>

Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning, while some work is field work in hot, cold, or seasonal weather.</div><br>
