Head of Performing Arts &amp; Public Programmes Department: Performing Arts &amp; Public Programmes Reports to: Chief Curator &amp; Artistic DirectorRole SummaryThe Head of Performing Arts &amp; Public Programmes will lead the creative vision, curation, and delivery of a bold, year-round programme for the Blue Ocean Foundation&rsquo;s multipurpose auditorium and amphitheatre. This role combines artistic programming with cultural diplomacy, positioning the Foundation as a hub where local, regional, and international voices intersect. The Head will be responsible for cultivating partnerships, commissioning original works, and creating platforms for dialogue, civic engagement, and cross-cultural exchange.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Programming &amp; Curation</li><li>Develop and implement an annual calendar of live performances, festivals, conferences, and civic engagement events.</li><li>Curate thematic seasons around contemporary social, cultural, and political issues, ensuring diversity of voices and disciplines.</li><li>Commission new works and residencies, nurturing emerging and established artists.</li><li>Design multidisciplinary programming that blends theatre, performance art, spoken word, music, and public dialogue.</li><li>Cultural Diplomacy &amp; Partnerships</li><li>Build cultural bridges through collaborations with international institutions, embassies, festivals, and touring companies.</li><li>Foster partnerships with local artists, community groups, NGOs, and civic organisations to amplify underrepresented voices.</li><li>Represent the Blue Ocean Foundation in regional and global cultural forums, positioning the institution as a thought leader in cultural exchange.</li><li>Negotiate co-productions, touring opportunities, and cross-border residencies to expand the Foundation&rsquo;s footprint beyond Karachi.</li><li>Production &amp; Operations</li><li>Oversee all aspects of production, from technical rehearsals and live event logistics to front-of-house and audience experience.</li><li>Supervise technical, production, and stage management staff to ensure excellence in execution.</li><li>Ensure programmes are accessible and inclusive, with attention to language, disability access, and community engagement.</li><li>Management &amp; Administration</li><li>Develop and manage departmental budgets, contracts, and financial reporting for grants and sponsorships.</li><li>Collaborate with Development &amp; Partnerships to secure funding and strategic support for programmes.</li><li>Track and report on audience metrics, community impact, and programming outcomes.</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Skills<ul><li>7&ndash;10 years of senior experience in performing arts programming, production, or cultural management.</li><li>Strong curatorial vision with demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary programming.</li><li>Proven track record of working across cultures, with international collaborators and cultural diplomacy projects.</li><li>Excellent project management, budgeting, and people management skills.</li><li>Skilled in negotiation, partnership-building, and engaging with artists, institutions, and civic stakeholders.</li><li>Deep understanding of audience development, cultural policy, and the role of the arts in social transformation.</li><li>Outstanding communication skills, with fluency in both local and international cultural contexts.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timeWork Location: In person
