This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.
The Controls Branch Lead is responsible for leading and managing the design, development, and implementation of control systems. This position will include accountability and oversight of technical design from initial conceptual design to final product certification, cost, schedule, risk management and personnel management. The Controls Branch Lead will also be responsible for working with the functional groups throughout Blue Origin including coordinating and facilitating support from EPM, TFO, and other organizations within the company in support of hardware design and development activities. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and attention towards safe and reliable spaceflight.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the design and development of control systems for Blue's aerospace products.
Ensure the timely delivery of control system designs that meet our requirements, performance specifications, and cost targets.
Manage the control system design team, including staffing, training, performance evaluation, and workload allocation.
Ensure the design and development of avionics control systems conform to all applicable industry standards and regulations.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Program, Project, Leadership, suppliers, other internal departments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with other spacecraft systems, such as electro-mechanical, fluids, etc.
Manage the control system certification process, including the coordination of testing, documentation, and certification reports.
Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a team
Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to avionics control systems.
Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for leading and coaching employees.
Strong technical knowledge of control systems, including hardware, firmware, and software design, system integration, and certification processes.
Proven leadership skills, including experience managing direct reports and mentoring technical teams.
Strong project management skills, including experience with project planning, budgeting, and risk management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Desired:
Experience leading technical teams developing power electronics and motor controls
Experience in all aspects of hardware design cycle (schematics, PWB layout, part selection, firmware design, acceptance/qualification tests)
Expertise in complex mixed signal circuit design and firmware design
Experience with control loop analysis and firmware implementation 
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $218,262.00 - $305,566.80

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a hardworking team of professionals, specialists, and engineers, you will develop strategic procurement solutions and complete day to day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team&rsquo;s impact on all aspects of supply chain operations, driving organizational and policy change to enhance Blue Origin&rsquo;s bottom-line.
The Buyer III will ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet the needs of Blue Origin. They will be competent in Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives. They have excellent oral and written skills, and solid communication skills. They also have experience preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal/ Requests for Quote, performing cost analysis in support of proposals, and have developed negotiation strategies and led formal negotiations.
The Buyer III is experienced in constructing various contract types for major procurement activities to meet the requirements of the programs and needs of the business to include long range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and identification of opportunities for enhanced efficiencies. They take ownership of the procurement process from requisition creation through to final payment of invoices and are accountable to resolve issues within this process. They will lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (i.e., Long-Term Agreements (LTAs)) where mutually beneficial. They will support the overall procurement organization&rsquo;s strategic direction and ensure corporate strategic objectives are achieved to include: on time delivery of production materials, within budget, and meet technical performance requirements.

Qualifications:<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience, Master's degree with 4 years of experience in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related industry experience.</li><li>
Interprets and applies company, policies, procedures, work instructions, business standards and U.S. government regulations, i.e., FAR, DFAR, SOX Compliance.</li><li>
Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the supply chain department.</li><li>
Maintain compliant and accurate files and data records.</li><li>
Strong analytical skills, data driven with experience in establishing and tracking program metrics</li><li>
Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations.</li><li>
Must have top notch people and communication skills.</li><li>
Working understanding of AS9100 standards.</li><li>
Knowledge of Engineering Data such as specifications &amp; source control drawings.</li><li>
