Under the supervision of the ambulatory clinical pharmacy manager and according to department policies, procedures, and guidelines, pharmacist will be responsible for providing the highest level of patient and customer care to patients undergoing treatment at the medical center. Clinical pharmacy specialist will be working under the clinical supervision of the medical directors of rheumatology clinic. Clinical pharmacy specialist ensures optimum patient related outcomes for various rheumatologic disorders (rheumatoid arthritis, gout, scleroderma, lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, etc.) by preventing or resolving drug-related issues and optimizing the drug therapy of patients. Provides drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Integrally involved in education of pharmacists, residents and students. Additionally, the clinical specialist coordinates clinical projects, assists with formulary coordination and policy revisions, ensures billing compliance and revenue capture and helps to lead other projects as needed. Serves as a resource and drug expert for all rheumatology biologics and general rheumatology related medications and strives to increase knowledge through research and writing activities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Work in collaborative fashion with all specialty area nurses, fellows, and attendings toward optimizing patient outcomes, with added focus on improving population health activities important to institutional goals and mission.
The ambulatory clinical pharmacy specialist will be responsible for providing medication optimization focused pharmacotherapy services within the rheumatology clinic. They will be expected to function at a high level and work independently under a scope of practice/collaborative practice agreement in providing support for patients on biologics/DMARD to ensure safe and effective treatment from start to finish for each patient. The clinical specialist will collaborate with rheumatology specialists, specialty pharmacy team and BMC infusion center pharmacy to improve the quality, safety and adherence for all biologic therapies. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of attendings, mid-level providers, fellows, nurses, and specialty pharmacy liaisons to optimize and promote rational, safe, evidence based, and cost-effective therapy for all patients. Clinical specialist will also be involved with high level projects.
The primary responsibilities within Rheumatology clinic are to:<ul>
<li>
Help manage patients on biologics/DMARDs referred for treatment, establish patient relationships and ensure continuity of care</li>
<li>Develop, document, and execute plan of care utilizing guidelines or established protocol</li>
<li>Provide medication education and counseling to patients as outlined in department policies and procedures</li>
<li>Provide ongoing care for chronic problems as delineated in protocol</li>
<li>Order laboratory studies</li>
<li>Coordinate with nursing staff regarding immunizations</li>
<li>Aid in infusion center orders</li>
<li>Analyze laboratory and diagnostic test data so as to modify drug therapy and dosing as necessary</li>
<li>Monitor patients to assess response, toxicities and non-adherence to drug therapy</li>
<li>Document pertinent findings, patient face to face encounters, and counseling sessions in the electronic medical record appropriately</li>
<li>Identify and take specific corrective action for drug-induced problems</li>
<li>Assist with management of drug and drug-related problems in clinic in conjunction with attending physician</li>
<li>Notify primary provider regarding atypical findings</li>
<li>Refer patient to ED or alternate service if warranted in discussion with physician</li>
<li>Provide effective transition of care needs including, but not limited to, medication reconciliation and completing post-discharge telephone calls</li>
<li>Identify opportunities for improvement in patient care or the medication use process</li>
<li>Take an active role in the development and implementation of quality improvement projects</li>
<li>Actively participate the formulary review process and formulary management (drug monographs, MUEs, medication guidelines) for medications used to treat rheumatologic disorders or in other areas of interest</li>
<li>Actively participate in various institutional committees</li>
<li>Participate in the updating and building of new and existing order sets and operational and clinical efficiencies within EPIC</li>
<li>Precept APPE 4th year PharmD students, PGY-1 and PGY-2 practice residents</li>
<li>Provide in-service education to pharmacy staff, students, nurses, physicians and other healthcare practitioners, as needed (other opportunities for teaching include lectures at Boston University School of Medicine, if desired)</li>
<li>Participate in the orientation and cross-training of pharmacy residents and other pharmacy team members</li>
<li>Serve as a pharmacy liaison to the BMC staff by ensuring the connectivity between clinical and distributive services</li>
<li>Act as a supervisor over the operational activities of the pharmacy liaison (certified pharmacy technician)</li>
<li>Assist or provide direction for the pharmacy liaison in completing prior authorization requests, responding to prior authorization denials, and obtaining co-pay assistance for high co-pays through pharmaceutical sponsored co-pay assistance programs for commercial payers or through chronic disease funds for government subsidized payers</li>
<li>Maintain current knowledge base of Rheumatoid therapies with continuing education (with a minimum of 5 hours of disease management related continuing education annually)</li>
<li>In all activities, comply with accreditation, legal and regulatory requirements</li>

POSITION SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Finance Analyst II (RFA) is the key sponsored program financial contact for the departmental administrators, principal investigators and BMC central research administration related to monitoring, controlling and reporting of grants and contracts. The position performs, on a daily basis, analysis of accounts and communication with the BMC research community, sponsors, and central BMC research administration personnel. The RFA is responsible for the monitoring and communicating about the fiscal management of grants and contracts in accordance with government regulations, sponsor requirements, and Hospital policy.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES<ul>

The Research Finance Analyst II will be assigned a sponsored projects portfolio, for which he or she performs all grant related post-award financial functions according to the terms and conditions of the sponsor, including, but not limited to, budget and expense analysis, monthly invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, and re-budgeting.</li>
<li>Reviews contracts and new awards to assess impact on financial management of awards and provides feedback to Sponsored Programs Administration, ensuring BMC can meet its contractual obligations for financial management</li>
<li>Responsible for communicating with key staff regarding post-award financial management of sponsored funds, including spending versus budget, unbilled and billed amounts, aged receivables/collection items, un-reconciled accounts, and deficits. Meets with department administrators and/or principal investigators on a regular basis to review status of accounts.</li>
<li>Performs all grant closeout functions according to the terms and conditions of the sponsor and Hospital policy, including, but not limited to, reconciliation of the grant, preparation and submission of financial reports, final invoicing, purchase order liquidations, carryover of available funds, and AR follow-up.</li>

<li>Communicates with sponsors for problem resolution, outstanding receivables, budget adjustment and information gathering.</li>
<li>May be responsible for one or more ongoing general department responsibilities as assigned by the Manager, Research Finance. These tasks include, accounts receivable management, vendor invoices/uploads, processing journal entries, purchase order management, LOC draw prep, BU salary approvals and monthly invoice/upload, and FFR and grant ending notifications.</li>
<li>Manages submonitoring and payment of subinvoices for the institution.</li>
<li>Assists in supporting internal and external sponsor audits, pulling together supporting documentation and liaising with department staff to meet audit needs.</li>

Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician

<div>Position: Harm Reduction Research Assistant Specialist, General Internal Medicine
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: 40 hours per week, On-site
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Harm Reduction Research Assistant Specialist (HRRAS) will assist in participant activities detailed in the study protocol to support a SafeSpot intervention study which aims to develop, implement, and evaluate an intervention to engage overdose survivors to use an overdose prevention hotline and reduce their unwitnessed substance use. The HRRAS will support the multidisciplinary team recruiting and retaining study participants from multiple community-based organizations, collecting study data through a variety of methods (questionnaires, qualitative interviews, focus groups, proof of concept trials), and additional day-to-day study activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul>
<li>
Supporting coordination and the conduct of focus group sessions and qualitative interviews for intervention development, assist with content analysis</li>
<li>
Ensuring smooth and efficient running of the clinical trial as per good clinical practices (GCP) guidelines, and regulatory requirements, coordinating with the PI, research team, and clinic staff for completing research visits seamlessly.</li>
<li>
Recruiting and screening potential participants admitted to the hospital, from post overdose programs, harm reduction organizations, and street outreach and potential participants expressing interest through posted flyers, advertising, social media, and word of mouth, ensuring they meet study eligibility criteria.</li>
<li>
Distribute recruitment materials (posters, flyers, and cards) at community-based organizations and clinical sites.</li>
<li>
Obtaining informed consent from participants, explaining the study&rsquo;s purpose, risks, and any potential benefits.</li>
<li>
Scheduling study participants for in-person, telephone and virtual appointments, accommodating participants&rsquo; technology resources and skills.</li>
<li>
Regularly contact participants to retain them for the duration of the study</li>
<li>
Monitoring participant safety and well-being, reporting any adverse events to the PI and sponsor in consultation with the research director. Collecting, documenting, and managing study data (study questionnaires and qualitative interviews) accurately and efficiently as per approved methods.</li>
<li>
Maintain and update study documentation (e.g. study trackers, logs, progress notes, etc.)</li>
<li>
Serving as a liaison between the research team, participants, and community organization staff for efficient communication.</li>
<li>
Participates in staff meetings/initiatives including appropriate quality improvement and education activities, or if unable to attend non-mandatory activities, accepts responsibility to review meeting minutes and becomes knowledgeable of issues discussed.</li>
