The Security Officer provides support through the Campus Communications Center and patrols the College campus on foot, bicycle, or in a security vehicle. The officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, alumni, visitors, and property. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<br>
</div><ul><li>Conducting daily patrols and walkthroughs of campus buildings and grounds, including locking and unlocking buildings and inspecting fire and access control alarm systems</li>
<li>Monitoring the condition of campus buildings and taking steps to prevent damage or theft, as well as identifying and reporting hazards such as broken lights or unsafe conditions during patrols</li>
<li>Investigating incidents, crimes, and complaints involving the College or its community members, and ensuring compliance with established regulations and policies</li>
<li>Operating the Campus Security Communications Center by monitoring alarms, responding to complaints and requests, and coordinating response efforts by communicating with patrol officers via radio or other means</li>
<li>Maintaining detailed and accurate records as it pertains to incidents, activities, and communications</li>
<li>While this is a fairly entry-level position, Bowdoin will provide 5 weeks of training to new security employees, further training at 6 months, and offer other opportunities for training through out the year such as deescalation trainings.</li><br>

<b>Compensation:</b>
</div><ul><li>The hourly rate for this position is $21.00 per hour. Exact compensation will be determined based on years of applicable experience.</li>
<li>This position is eligible for overtime, a 10% shift differential, and a weekend differential.</li>
<li>3rd Shift Differential (15%): Applies to hours worked from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.<ul><li>
$21.00 &times; 15% = $3.15 additional per hour</li></ul>
</li><li>Weekend Differential: Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked on Saturday and Sunday.</li>
<li>New employees of the college are eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus paid out at 90 days!</li>

<div><div><b>Education/Skills Requirements</b></div>
<div><ul><li>High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate&rsquo;s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred</li>
<li>Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain upon employment)</li>
<li>A valid driver&rsquo;s license and the ability to meet the requirements of the College&rsquo;s Motor Vehicle Use Policy required</li>
<li>Attendance at a Campus Security Officer Academy</li>
<li>Working knowledge of various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems</li>
<li>Ability to work three regularly scheduled, 120 hours (18 months full-time equivalent) as a Bowdoin College Security Officer I (of which 1,040 hours as a Museum Security Officer may be applied toward this requirement)</li>
<li>Demonstrated proficiency in Patrol and Communications Center operations (a minimum of 96 hrs annually in each discipline is expected to maintain an acceptable level of proficiency)</li>
<li>Ability to maintain at least one approved area of special expertise (e.g., Field Training Officer, crime prevention, MOAB, defensive tactics, drug recognition, CPR/First Aid Instructor)</li>
<li>Ability to design, implement and maintain a self-initiated community service project of substantial value to the Bowdoin community that enhances campus safety and security</li>
<li>Ability to successfully complete the Maine Campus Security Online Training Center courses</li></ul></div><br>

<div><div>The Upward Bound program at Bowdoin College seeks a part time Nurse Practitioner for the 2026 summer program. This position will provide a range of supportive health and wellness services for limited-income, first-generation-to-college high school students living in residence while taking classes and participating in activities designed to prepare them for admission to and successful completion of a high school degree. Limited, non-emergency on-call consultation when needed.<br>
</div><div>The NP will deliver summer program wellness services through a free-standing clinic. Responsibilities will include daily med administration and record keeping; health care coordination with parents/guardians and providers to support students living away from home; examination and assessment, triage and referral for illness and health concerns as they arise.<br>
</div><div>The UB summer program aims to foster a community-oriented environment where every student is treated with the care and support needed to step out of their comfort zone and reach for their dreams. Participants are the first in their family to potentially achieve a college degree and largely come from limited income backgrounds. For many, the summer program is the first extended time away from home, requiring compassionate treatment coordination and an understanding of the limitations of rural health care and impact of poverty on young people&rsquo;s wellbeing.<br>
</div><div>Upward Bound is a federally funded program through the US Department of Education serving low-income, first-generation college bound students from 14 high schools in Maine. dedicated to empowering and supporting first-generation and low-income high school students in their pursuit of higher education. The program mission is to provide comprehensive academic, personal, and career development services that foster a commitment to lifelong learning, leadership, and community engagement. Through individualized mentoring, rigorous academic preparation, and a nurturing environment, we strive to equip our students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to succeed in college and beyond.<br>

The hourly rate is expected to be $50 &ndash; $55/hr, commensurate with experience.<br>

<div><div><b>Education/Skills Requirements</b></div>
<div><div>A Bachelor&rsquo;s degree and NP designation from accredited nursing program are required. Applicants must be licensed in the State of Maine. Supervision by MD beyond 24 months and license to practice independently preferred.<br>
</div><div>Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask in a fast paced environment; and excellent customer service skills.</div></div>
</div><br>
<div><div><b>Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Experience providing primary or urgent care services as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in pediatric, adolescent, camp, or school-based settings</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience administering and managing daily medications, including accurate documentation and record keeping</li>
<li>Experience conducting health assessments, triage, and referral for acute illness and emerging health concerns</li>
<li>Proven ability to coordinate care with parents/guardians, schools, and external healthcare providers</li>

</ul><div>Preferred:</div><ul>
<li>Experience supporting youth living away from home, including managing homesickness, stress, and adjustment-related health concerns</li>
<li>Familiarity with the health and wellness needs of low-income, first-generation, and/or underserved student populations</li>
