Legal SecretaryWe are looking for a legal secretary to join our growing team. We are a boutique law firm with experienced local attorneys and a practice focused on employment (management side only), business/civil litigation, and government law. We have amazing clients and sophisticated legal work, but we are not a typical/traditional law firm. Like most law firms, we work very hard; however, we also love where we work and believe anyone who works for us should too. We work collaboratively and genuinely like one another. We like music and play it throughout the office all day. Unless we have meetings or court appearances that dictate formal attire, you will find us in business casual attire or even jeans. We are committed to our legal community and community at large, with service on a variety of state and local boards. We are extremely proud of the culture and working environment we have created, and we are careful to ensure each person who joins our team is the right fit.This full-time position (35-40 hours per week) will focus primarily on clerical work such as answering phones, scheduling litigation events (depositions, mediations, hearings, etc.), drafting and filing court documents, following up on subpoenas, scanning and document management, greeting office visitors, and similar tasks. We offer competitive wages commensurate with qualifications and experience (starting at $24.00 per hour) and a comprehensive benefits package (eligibility for some benefits, such as insurance and 401k, depends on number of hours worked).What You'll Do:<ul><li>Build and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, etc.</li><li>Field telephone calls from clients, potential clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and others in a courteous and effective manner</li><li>Work with opposing counsel, court staff, witnesses, and court reporters to schedule litigation events, such as depositions, mediations, medical examinations, and hearings</li><li>Accurately calendar litigation events and deadlines from case management and trial orders</li><li>Draft and file notices of deposition, notices of mediation, subpoenas, cancellation notices, and similar court documents in state and federal court</li><li>Prepare correspondence and various other legal documents</li><li>Greet and assist visitors to the office</li><li>Scan documents into document management system, update/maintain paper and electronic files</li><li>Edit and proofread transcribed dictation and send to clients</li><li>Enter new cases and other data into practice management system</li><li>Pay and track invoices associated with firm files</li><li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed</li></ul>Your Skills, Ability, and Experience:<ul><li>Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with a team (please, no drama!)</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal</li><li>Experience working in the legal industry</li><li>Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management skills</li><li>Strong grammar and spelling, ability to proofread</li><li>Ability to maintain discretion and client confidentiality</li><li>Proficient using Microsoft Word and Outlook, comfortable using online practice management and document management systems</li><li>Self-motivated and driven, with ability to work independently but willingness to accept direction as appropriate</li><li>Professional appearance and demeanor</li><li>Excellent references, ability to pass drug test and background screen</li></ul>What We Offer:<ul><li>Great culture and opportunity for professional growth</li><li>Flexibility with scheduling and remote work</li><li>Interesting work, amazing clients</li><li>Competitive pay commensurate with experience</li><li>Full suite of benefits, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, 401k with match (currently 4%) and profit-sharing</li></ul>How to Apply:Please email a cover letter, resume, and at least two professional references to info@bapfirm.com with the following subject line: BAPM Legal Secretary Applicant.
