Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Central Ohio, an Affiliate of Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of America, empowers the young people who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens by providing high-quality and impactful out-of-school time programming for youth in grades K-12. BGCCO serves 4,000 youth per year throughout Central Ohio.

Position Summary
Seasonal Youth Development Professional (SYDP) practice is to provide children and teens, June through August, with high-quality experiences that support their current and long-term success. Staff utilize our five key elements for positive youth development, based on research that studied many Clubs&rsquo; best practices:<ul><li>
Create a safe, positive environment</li><li>
Generate fun and foster a sense of belonging</li><li>
Encourage supportive relationships with peers and adults</li><li>
Provide opportunities and set expectations</li><li>
Offer recognition to positive behavior</li></ul>
A successful SYDP will have the ability to recognize young people&rsquo;s contributions and accomplishments, while working alongside other club staff. Have the capabilities to help members reframe conflict, identify their feelings, and understand the relationship between emotion, behavior, and consequence.
Boys &amp; Girls Club of Central Ohio offers after school and summer programing 12 months a year.
Essential Job Function &amp; Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Independently implementing core BGCA curriculum and evaluating programs, services, and activities with members in a safe environment. SYDP to member ratios; 1:15, up to 20.</li><li>
Maintain a program area schedule that satisfies the diverse interests and abilities of Club members; ensure programming is age appropriate.</li><li>
Contributing to a healthy and safe environment, ensuring that facilities, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained.</li><li>
Promote the development of social and emotional skills.</li><li>
Manage classroom conduct and exhibit problem-solving skills needed to redirect behavior.</li><li>
Maintain daily and monthly attendance records during programming for their own classroom.</li><li>
Fulfilling responsibilities and all other duties as assigned for BGCCO club location for which they are assigned.</li><li>
Capability to be flexible, travel and work at other clubs within the market as required. Mileage paid in accordance with the IRS standard milage rates.</li></ul>
Training &amp; Meeting Requirements<ul><li>
Responsible for meal service operations which include receiving food from vendor, ensuring the meal count is accurate at point of service, and compiling the monthly meal count record and daily time log.</li><li>
Attending Summer food service program training.</li><li>
Successful completion onboarding</li><li>
BGCA program training</li><li>
Attend scheduled staff meetings, and supervisor 1:1</li><li>
CPR plus, not required</li></ul>
 Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>
High School diploma or GED required.</li><li>
Minimum 1 year working with youth preferred (experience may include: volunteer, summer camps, mentoring, tutoring, coaching, and teaching etc.) OR 2 years&rsquo; general relevant experience.</li><li>
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer skills.</li></ul>
Working Conditions<ul><li>
Onsite/in-person</li><li>
Position will also on occasion performing the role outside of club facilities including but not limited to, field trips, or other events taking place in a location other than the club.
</li><li>Dress Code; BGCCO logo wear at all times (t-shirt, polo etc.) Personal appearance reflects reputation, integrity and should be professional and appropriate at all times.</li><li>
Be on time and be ready to work at the start of your scheduled shift. Reliable and consistent attendance is required.</li></ul>
Physical Requirements<ul><li>
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs./ (Occasionally)</li><li>
Stand, sit, walk (Frequently)</li><li>
Operates a computer and other office productivity equipment such as copy machine, computer, printer, timeclock, typing (frequently).</li><li>
Kneeling, crouching, bending (Frequently).</li><li>
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (occasionally).</li></ul>
