<div>POSITION SUMMARY: 
Under supervision of the Dental Clinical Director, it provides clinical dental services to the Greater Brockton
 
Area population with special emphasis on family dentistry. 
RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Provide education, screening, and preventive services to BNHC dental patients. Provide all phases of general dentistry including oral diagnosis and treatment planning, radiology, restorative services prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, and basic oral surgical procedures.</li><li>
Interact with other disciplines within the BNHC acting as a resource of information for other medical providers and social workers. Provides education, screening and preventive services to BNHC dental patients of all ages, including vulnerable populations such as HIV-infected patients, homeless patients, diabetics and children. Provide all phases of general dentistry including oral diagnosis and treatment planning, radiography, restorative services, prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, and basic exodontia.</li><li>
Conducts quarterly peer reviews and ensures compliance.</li><li>
Interacts with other disciplines within BNHC providing a resource for other medical providers and social workers.</li><li>
Maintains patient information within HIPAA.</li><li>
Maintains a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers, patients, and external professional contacts.</li><li>
Demonstrates ability to prioritize demands, work with distractions, adapt to change, exercise efficient time management, and work independently.</li><li>
Maintains appropriate chain of command.</li><li>
Attending staff meetings is required.</li><li>
Communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, and management.</li><li>
Participate in development of short range and long-range strategic planning of dental services and quality measures.</li></ul> 
STANDARDS OF CARE:<ul><li>
Patient medical history to be reviewed at every visit.
</li><li>Patient radiographs to be reviewed and assessed to clarity.
</li><li>A complete diagnosis should be created and established.</li><li>
A comprehensive treatment plan should be created.</li><li>
A coherent and comprehensive strategy to restore the patient to good oral health should be created.
</li><li>Provider will create excellent and accurate progress notes.</li><li>
Pain scale will be completed every visit.</li><li>
The consent forms will be completed and reviewed prior to treatment.</li><li>
Time outs will be performed prior to procedures.</li><li>
Treatment provided must be billed accurately and in timely in accordance with BNHC policies and procedures for closing encounters.</li><li>
These duties should be performed within the direction of the Massachusetts License Board and ADA. It is the responsibility of the dentist to ensure they are aware of standards of care as needed by the Massachusetts dental board.</li></ul>
PRODUCTIVITY:<ul><li>
Dentists are expected to meet the department's yearly budgeted visits, determined at the beginning of the fiscal year.</li></ul>
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: 
Requires a doctorate in dental medicine or surgery with a license to practice in Massachusetts.
TRAINING: 
One year of experience as a dental resident or practicing dentist.
INDEPENDENT ACTION: 
Duties as a general dentist require the ability to perform according to accepted principles independent of supervision.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 
Shares responsibility for supervision of dental students training at the BNHC site as per Clinical Supervisor instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
The individual must be in good health of mind and body with physical dexterity and vision suitable to accomplish the job duties outlined above. Knowledge of proper patient transfer assistance is also required and the ability to lift as much as fifty pounds may be necessary.</div>
