Overview

BRPH is seeking a highly motivated Plumbing Designer ready to take on new challenges and contribute to a diverse portfolio of complex, high-impact projects. Job Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.</li>
<li>Attends client meetings.</li>
<li>Assists in the analysis of data received by others to plan and design projects.</li>
<li>Prepares design computations and applies plumbing design fundamentals.</li>
<li>Understands and utilizes plumbing design terminology.</li>
<li>Assists in the preparation of reports and white papers.</li>
<li>Performs site/field investigations to collect data for plumbing assignments.</li>
<li>May instruct and supervise daily tasks of drafters and Designer Levels I and II.</li>
<li>Provides advice, guidance and mentoring for drafting and plumbing designer staff.</li>
<li>Provides technical support to other staff in area of expertise.</li>
<li>Performs advanced CADD and Revit drafting on a regular basis to produce designs into non-routine final drawings.</li>
<li>Uses AutoCAD and Revit in calculations of dimensions and distances.</li>
<li>Be able to visualize from two dimensions to three dimensions.</li>
<li>Ability to produce drawings in three dimensions.</li>
<li>Produces designs and drawings from vendor's and manufacturer's catalog and technical data.</li>
<li>Research discipline-related code issues and present interpretation.</li>
<li>Perform checking of one's own work and work prepared by drafters and engineering designers.</li>
<li>Provide coordination of all applicable project discipline's drawings.</li>
<li>Promote communication, cooperation and quality among staff.</li>
<li>Must be able to perform the following tasks:</li>
<li>Ensure design is in compliance with all applicable codes.</li>
<li>Ensure design is in compliance with client criteria.</li>
<li>Ensure consistency between symbol/legends and drawings, details and riser diagrams.</li>
<li>Provide complete designer checks of one's own work.</li>
<li>Verify drawings/PDF's look presentable and conform to company standards.</li>
<li>Perform domestic water and sanitary drainage fixture unit calculations.</li>
<li>Size domestic water (cold, hot and hot water return), sanitary and vent systems.</li>
<li>Calculate slopes of sanitary pipe system to indicated invert elevations.</li>
<li>Coordinate route of underground piping below slab with foundation and structural engineer.</li>
<li>Calculate domestic water requirements and size domestic water booster pump based upon available pressure and flow.</li>
<li>Calculate hot water requirements and size hot water heater(s) and expansion tank.</li>
<li>Size hot water heater return pump.</li>
<li>Calculate roof areas for sizing storm system.</li>
<li>Layout and size storm system.</li>
<li>Coordinate roof drains location with architect/structural engineer.</li>
<li>Provide and coordinate plumbing fixture cut sheets with architect/client for approval.</li>
<li>Provide complete plumbing fixture and equipment schedules.</li>
<li>Coordinate VTRs with mechanical engineer.</li>
<li>Coordinate plumbing services and utilities with civil engineer.
<ul><li>Complete Kitchen Design:
<ul><li>Calculate gas load requirements. Coordinate meter location with civil/gas company</li>
<li>Layout and size gas system.</li>
<li>Calculate grease requirements.</li>
<li>Layout and size grease system and size grease interceptor.</li>
<li>Coordinate hot water temperature requirement with kitchen schedule/consultant.</li>
<li>Coordinate plumbing kitchen design requirement with kitchen consultant.</li>
<li>Complete Industrial System Design:</li>
<li>Calculate compressed air requirements and size air compressor.</li>
<li>Calculate vacuum requirements and size vacuum pumps and holding tanks.</li>
<li>Write all required specification for small and medium sized jobs.</li>
<li>Perform all tasks assigned on prevention checklists.</li>
<li>Cross check plumbing drawings against other discipline drawings and participate in redi-check and other cross-checking activities.</li></ul>

Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Minimum of a high school/GED diploma and 7 years experience, or</li>
<li>Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year accredited college or technical school and minimum 6 years related experience</li></ul>
