 Position Summary
 
 
 
 The Buck Institute for Research on Aging is seeking a
 
 Data Scientist / AI Scientist
 
 to support a research program focused on the fundamental biology of aging through the development and application of advanced artificial intelligence approaches. This role will contribute to efforts that use imaging, quantitative analysis, foundation models, and modern AI to better understand the biological mechanisms of aging and identify new ways to measure, predict, and potentially intervene in those processes.
 
 
 The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team that brings together expertise in biology, biophysics, computer science, artificial intelligence, and other quantitative disciplines. This individual will help develop new computational methods, analyze complex imaging datasets, and work closely with experimental and computational researchers to generate insights from large-scale biological data.

 About The Zhou Lab

 Candidates from pure computational science backgrounds (with or without prior experience in bioinformatics) are encouraged to apply. Our lab has the experience of training CS background students to work on biological questions, as our dataset is either images or texts. Prior experience in biological or biomedical imaging is helpful but not required for candidates with strong technical expertise and a genuine interest in applying frontier AI methods to major biological questions.

 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Develop and apply advanced AI and machine learning methods to research questions in aging biology
 </li>
 <li>
 Design, build, and optimize computational approaches for large-scale image and biological data analysis
 </li>
 <li>
 Build and apply models in areas such as computer vision, image recognition, segmentation, deep learning, generative AI, diffusion models, and multimodal or foundation-model approaches
 </li>
 <li>
 Analyze complex imaging datasets and extract biologically meaningful patterns and insights
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate closely with experimental and computational researchers to integrate AI methods with biological research
 </li>
 <li>
 Contribute to the design of new research directions at the intersection of AI, imaging, and aging biology
 </li>
 <li>
 Contribute to a collaborative and intellectually engaged research environment
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Required Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>

 BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, computational biology, bioengineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related quantitative field
 </li>

 Strong experience in one or more of the following areas:

 Position Summary
 
 
 
 The Buck Institute for Research on Aging is seeking a
 
 part-time Clinical Research Technician
 
 to support the Newman Lab&rsquo;s clinical trial team. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, technically skilled, and interested in contributing to human clinical research in a dynamic translational science environment.
 
 
 This position supports an observational, longitudinal study designed to map and characterize human biorhythms. The Technician will assist with study visits, participant assessments, biospecimen collection and processing, laboratory preparation, and study documentation. The role is essential to the accurate execution of research procedures and the integrity of study data, with all work conducted in accordance with IRB-approved protocols, Good Clinical Practice, and established standard operating procedures.
 
 
 
 Key Responsibilities
 
 
 Clinical Research Support
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Assist with standardized participant assessments during study visits, including anthropometric measurements such as height, weight, body composition, and waist circumference
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with collection of vital signs, including heart rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, and blood pressure
 </li>
 <li>
 Support physical testing procedures, including cardiopulmonary exercise testing, spirometry, grip strength testing, and leg press testing
 </li>
 <li>
 Support challenge visits, including oral glucose tolerance testing and maximal exercise testing
 </li>
 <li>
 Laboratory and Biospecimen SupportAssist with study wearables and devices, including setup, issuance, maintenance, and data synchronization for tools such as continuous glucose monitors, smart wristbands, smart rings, and smart scales
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with administration and scoring of selected study questionnaires and cognitive testing materials
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain accurate and complete case report forms and source documentation
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Laboratory and Biospecimen Support
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, collection kits, and supplies needed for study procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with collection and handling of biospecimens, including venous blood, urine, buccal swabs, stool samples, and vaginal swabs
 </li>
 <li>
 Support biospecimen processing, labeling, storage, and inventory management
 </li>
 <li>
 Package and ship biospecimens to certified external clinical laboratories for analysis
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Compliance and Operations

 Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical and laboratory environment
 </li>
 <li>
 Support study compliance activities, including maintenance of training records and study documentation
 </li>
 <li>

 Qualifications
 
 
 
 Required
